This website creates word clouds and is often used to begin concept mapping or brainstorming. Students can list words that connect with each other and create a visual. Word clouds can be altered by size of the words, color, and shape.

Thank you Kelsey for posting this, I've seen these word clouds on websites and other places but didn't know how to make them. Now I don't have to look any further. I think this resource will be something that I could use in my classroom. It may be a tool used so students can see what words they use most in their writing or for a poetry unit. It is definitely something that I can see myself using for graphic works, either on a blog, yearbook page, or poster. This is something that I feel both students and teachers can use, but mostly students. I know there are similar sites out there, but not sure what they are.

I love this cite to do word wall words and other things. I used it a great deal last year but had forgotten about it. It is not only a good resource for the teacher but the kids love it to. Thanks for refreshing my memory on this site.

I thought this resource was great and thought provoking for the educator that has access to i pads in the classroom. Not only could educators use this source but parents as well. I also agree with Randon that it has student uses as well. I agree with Randon as well that many other resources and social media pages such as facebook and twitter are available, however the creation of this site gives a different navigational system to explore.

This is a great resource for teachers and students in the classroom. The more resources that we have the greater the level of learning can be. Teachers and students will benefit for this resource. Thanks for sharing

This is an excellent list of 100 blogs written by high school teachers. Many interesting blogs that would interest anyone in education and especially middle/high school educators. Blogs cover various educational topics and there is definitely something for everyone!

Randon, I'm sure I'll end up following quite a few. Unfortunately I haven't had time to delve too deeply into the list. It is on my to do list though! :)

Excellent source for teachers. I shared this with our English teacher who does things with blogs and wiki's in her classroom. She was very excited for new material to use. There are many different and unique topics in this site which she had never seen before.

A great source for collaborative tools for both teachers and students. One of the coolest parts of GFE is the lesson plan search!! Can easily search for what you're looking for in a lesson plan and come up with many ideas and outlines to get you started.

Google for Educators is a very good tool for teachers to use, i liked the way it organized, it is easy to research and find what you want, classroom videos are awesome tools to use.

A Wiki to share lesson plans and look for curriculum ideas. A quick search generates many options, downloadable and ready to go!

Great resource! Although it states K-12, I think many of the ideas can be re-tooled for higher education also. It is so great to have the tools so readily available. Why try to reinvent the wheel? This resource shares great, tested ideas, and as you said, downloadable and ready to go!

What a great resource! Thanks for sharing it with us. I will be able to use this resource as I create and plan my themed units for the year. I really like that I can search by theme and grade and then tie that directly to the core. This resource is primarily for teachers as it pertains to planning for instruction.

Another great website compilation of Web2.0 tools for schools. Great for K-12 and could be utilized in higher education also. Great setup and organization by type of tool. Very easy to use and great Web 2.0 sites. Includes brief description of each site.

This is a cool Wiki that has a lot of great resources for Web 2.0 ideas that can be used in the classroom or for personal use.

This is a great list of tools for collaboration. As we begin to plan for our classroom using some new tools and bringing technology into the Iowa Core, this site will come in handy. A great place to look for tools when you are doing your planning.

This website is a marketplace for educators. It is a resource to get materials of various kinds to be used in the classroom. This can range from classroom management, labels, lesson plans, paperwork used in the classroom, forms, etc. Some items are free and some must be bought. These materials can be printed and used or be used as framework for a teacher who is looking to create their own materials but doesn't know where to begin and can use these as a template.

I have been to this site and there are some great things on here, but I have a little bit of a problem with teachers selling their lessons. If this is what you want to do then create something that can be sold commercially. I am not really sure why this strikes me as wrong but it just doesn't sit right somehow. I would gladly share my ideas with others, but if I want to make money off my ideas I would go to the work to present it in a manner that those purchasing would have some assurance that what they are purchasing has some educational value, meets goals and standards and has been tested and refined. Personal opinion, like I said at the beginning there is great free stuff on here too, check it out and see what there is to offer.

Collaborize Classroom is an online Web2.0 tool that allows teachers to facilitate and create distributed learning communities for their classes.  This is a forum for students to blog on questions from class and extend their learning beyond the classroom.

Hmmm, have never heard of this before, but I like the look of it! I think it's great that a site like this can offer a UDL twist to online work for students, while also cutting down on grading time for the teacher. As a TA this semester, I have finally seen firsthand the incredible amount of time that goes into grading! I never understood why teachers hated it so much, but...I do now! I'm sure most web 2.0 classroom discussion tools have this sort of tracking feature for grading purposes (like ELearning here at UNI, for example). I love that this is a free tool! I do wonder how successfully students would utilize threaded discussion or other online learning environments such as this one in K-6 environments. I think it would be fun to experiment with and perhaps do some serious research and publishing on the results of such an experiment. All about being a teacher-researcher, and this is certainly something I could see myself trying to bring into my own classroom, especially if I was ever teaching in a flipped classroom environment...

I like the setup of Collaborize Classroom and definitely see the advantages of using it in the classroom. Unfortunately, I think our students are overwhelmed with new LMS systems, web 2.0 tools, and websites that they would probably not be very receptive to this site. If CC was easily integrated into a LMS interface, then I would consider using it, but at this point I will keep it on my radar for future use.

A great resource for educators who use SMART Boards.  The articles on here are written by teachers and for teachers that use these boards.  Lots of good articles and constantly updated as well.

Thank you for sharing this with us. We are are relatively new to SMART Boards and this seems to be a good one for teachers to be able go out and find material that they may use in the classroom. There always seem to be more material for K-8 than for 9-12 areas. Great sources for teachers to find tips also

This is a great resource! I really like the section that has SMART Board training on it. A lot of teachers in the classroom don't really know how to use these resources to their fullest extent and by having it so they can teach themselves online is great. I would use it if I had a SMART Board in my classroom.

I found this to be a comprehensive list and easy to use. Brief descriptions of the Web 2.0 tool are provided. Would pertain to all grade levels including higher education.

Great tool to help with discussions to avoid sidebars. Allows students to make comments or ask questions that can be addressed at a later.

I used this tool, in addition to Twitter, for technology training to introduce the idea of backchannels for K-12 administrators. They loved it.

I think this could effectively be used in a virtual classroom in my future because my students could get on with their presentation, have it available for viewing by me and his or her classmates, and I can get on and edit it if needed. I believe this resource is for both teacher and student use, as students must get on with their presentations, or the teacher could, and they could make comments and give feedback on one anothers' work. This reminds me a lot of Adobe Connect!

This amazing new tool (new to me at least) allows you to create a short story and set it to music using the Google Docs interface. When you are done it creates a short link to share out to all your family and friends. This has amazing implications in education and technology for use as a quick check for understanding, overview video, formative assignment, or quick creative writing assignments.

This looks like exactly what I would like to try with my students to get them doing some collaborative story writing! I would use this for creative story writing, research, and as a planning tool in 3rd grade.

This would be a cool idea in the classroom for sure!!!! Perhaps, they can collaborate and create their story before making a video or presentation - which could also be created collaboratively.

This website allows classes to connect and collaborate with each other.  Students and educators are able to access their homework, share content, and check their grades on this site.  I would use this for all subjects in order to keep in touch with students whenever they need me.

I really enjoyed exploring this website. I really like the fact that it is a secure website. We sometimes find websites in which can lead us to false information or unwanted information so I feel that this one is one that I would feel safe about including in my own classroom. Edmodo provides teachers and students a secure place to connect and collaborate.

This resource is from Capella University and their teachers are teaching many different tutorials about math and science. This resources gives tips and tools to better teach  in the classroom . 

What a wonderful and credible resource! After exploring the site I think I would mainly use these as a resource for myself as a teacher. But I do think some of the tutorials may be appropriate for upper elementary grades and on. In a way, this reminds me of the Khan Academy website. If you can't remember how to do something or if you need a new way to teach something then this would be an excellent tool to turn to.

Education Week is a good source for recent news concerning technology and education.  Many good article, blogs, and links to check out.  Current trends and issues with technology and education are addressed.

Teachers need structure, kids need structure, everyone needs a virtual egg timer!  This is a simple timer that works great with an interactive white board.  Type in any amount of time in the box and click 'start.'  Kids can easily look up and see how much time they have left and/or wait for the buzzer.  Works great for playing games like charades, etc.  Also worked well with high school students and timing speeches.

Safe to use! It's free to use and share these resources. The information and lessons come from all around the world, and there are over 50,000 documents all organized by grade level and subject.

This is "The Tech Savvy Educator's" blog in which I follow. He includes a lot of everyday and current topics in which I find useful for a lot of my Ed. Tech classes. 

Very interesting reading on timely topics for classroom teachers! After reading through several of his posts, I subscribed to his RSS feed. The posts provided food for thought about using technology in the classroom. The posts that immediately caught my attention, that I could put to use in my classroom, were about creating an instant online photo gallery and creating a low budget green screen. However, the most interesting post was "Learning + Video Games ≠ Gamification" that included a video of James Paul Gee and his thoughts on using gaming in education and as assessments.

This blog is very interesting! I particularly like seeing how different content areas have their own tab - very neat and organized for specialized content teachers. This blog could be used efficiently in my future classroom because of its informative resources and ideas. This blog is probably more for teacher use since it is all about integrating technology into classrooms. I am not familiar with any other blog that has such informative resources and ideas that help educators to facilitate technology more in their lessons.

To The Lesson is a teacher blog that is full of classroom ideas, organizational tips, management tips, etc. that can be helpful to use as ideas for any classroom!

This blog's simplicity is what I liked best about it. It shows great pictures and is organized in a way that easy to understand. Also, it gives great ideas for early education. I plan on teaching k-2 so this could give me great ideas for fun lessons!

I found the first few posts in this blog to be really interesting, although probably not very useful for me as a future teacher. I don't know much about Montessori teaching or schools. Based on my initial impressions, and the fact that I fully plan on being a "messy classroom" teacher (lots of differentiation, lots of AT (I'm a special education minor in addition to being an ed. tech. minor), I'm not sure how much my classroom philosophy and organizational principals could relate to this teacher's. A very different perspective, to be sure! If I ever have free time (maybe over winter break!?) I'd like to read more about what this Montessori stuff is all about; I'm especially interested in the value of the "Practical Life" work this teacher is doing?? Totally different than anything I've seen in my educational training. Thanks for sharing. :)
