Just one of the tweets (and an animated GIF) from a Twitter account called "science porn". The value of this image (and some of the others this account tweets) is they way they help people visualise difficult concepts or ideas. Showing students these types of images/visualisations can help, but what about asking students to create these types of visualisations? How might that help their learning?

Getting a handle on numbers, their magnitude and relationship can be difficult for adults, let alone students. This is an example of where published data from the EU statistics agency is being brought into Minecraft to support visualisation.

This not something that is only done using ICT, but it is something the ICT (especially various types of image editing software) really helps to take to another level. The idea is to use visuals - alternate representations - to help people understand/learn abstract concepts
