The Apple Watch's new feature is called the "taptic engine", which produces what Apple calls "haptic feedback". Haptics, derived from the Greek haptikos, refers to any form of interaction or communication by touch. The watch's engine allows wearers to set vibrations for various alerts and at adjustable intensity - or to send messages by taps to other users.

Ms Watt says the integration of haptics with the watch's map function is its most useful feature and is "definitely awesome for me as a deafblind person". It allows her to be directed around London's complex web of streets and alleys without hearing or sight

Demographer Bernard Salt has unveiled his report `Super connected jobs', commissioned by nbn, which looks at how jobs will change as we move further into the digital age.

Mr Salt says regardless of how technology changes, we are always going to need doctors, accountants, dentists, urban planners and teachers.It's just the way they conduct their work that might change.

Toolbelt Theory is based in the concept that students must learn to assemble their own readily available collection of life solutions.

“I don’t buy into the fact that we can get a system – and this is not a popular belief – that can do the full analysis of what students need,” he said

“I value the teaching profession and I think they need to look at the data that’s put out in front of them, the information that’s cut in different ways and use their ‘neck top computer’ [brain] to make some sort of valued judgement as to what the data is saying.

“Information can give black or white positives or negatives, but without the analytical mind of the teacher over the top understanding the student, what’s happening at home and in the classroom, they [IT] actually miss some of that analysis.”
