This course is designed for teachers and administrators interested in the flipped classroom model. The course has two main components: WHY flip your classroom and HOW to flip your classroom. Why Flip? Participants will get a glimpse into the what and why of the flipped classroom beginning with an iBook. This iBook will provide readers with the history, background, research, and examples of flipped classrooms through interactive texts, keynotes, and videos. This text is the preface to the second portion of the course addressing how to flip the classroom. How to Flip Once participants understand the WHY, this self-paced course will provide specific support for the skill acquisition needed for successful implementation of a flipped classroom model. Tutorials, strategies, resources and examples will provide the materials needed to create accessible videos, implement instruction and assess student success.

While I'm strongly in the camp of 'everyone should use Twitter because we all use it in a different way,' this humorous Twitter flowchart was just too interesting to not post. It's basically a visualization that helps you critically think about why you should or shouldn't use Twitter.

I like the step in the right dirention here but would like to take it further than....I want my students to.... by asking why should they blog? so an additional step is needed.... what is the final learning that you want to happen because of....

For students there are two distinct benefits of using Evernote. First, bookmarking online with annotations helps students not only keep track of websites they find useful while researching, it also helps them remember why they bookmarked a site. There's nothing worse that looking at your bookmarks a week or two later and wondering what it was about a website that prompted you to bookmark it. Second, by writing course notes in Evernote students can access their notes from any device that is connected to the web.

As more and more people join the world of Twitter (460,000 signups per day), school parents and teachers are more commonplace on this global social media tool. According to a recent Pew Internet Study, 84% of all Twitter users are between the ages of 18-49. Why is this important to school officials? The age range includes the majority of our school parents.

iKeepSafe is dedicated to the education of families on how to stay safe online. As the The Gamification of Learning and Instruction Blog Book Tour has been underway, another interesting discussion has been occurring in the learning blogosphere. It was sparked by Ruth Clark's article "Why Games Don't Teach." The article kicked off a firestorm of debate, demands for proof and even name calling. Christy Tucker addresses the question in her post. There is a healthy discussion on the eLearning Guild's LinkedIn group. In Guy Wallace's post on the subject, he quotes Dr. Richard Clark talking about the "ideologically committed gamester." (ok, so its mild name calling, but still….)
