50 Education Technology Tools Every Teacher Should Know About | Edudemic - 0 views

  •
Technology and education are pretty intertwined these days and nearly every teacher has a few favorite tech tools that make doing his or her job and connecting with students a little bit easier and more fun for all involved. Yet as with anything related to technology, new tools are hitting the market constantly and older ones rising to prominence, broadening their scope, or just adding new features that make them better matches for education, which can make it hard to keep up with the newest and most useful tools even for the most tech-savvy teachers. Here, we've compiled a list of some of the tech tools, including some that are becoming increasingly popular and widely used, that should be part of any teacher's tech tool arsenal this year, whether for their own personal use or as educational aids in the classroom.

"With so many free and user friendly tech tools available for teachers, it's hard to know where to begin to put together a list of the best tools for teaching and learning so I decided to take a look at my own resources to determine which tools I use the most. Rather than posting another running list of tools, features and uses, I decided to present the information visually, through an interactive ThingLink graphic. I used the new colored nubbins available to make it easier for visitors to explore areas of interest more efficiently. "

Six Essential Tools for Generation C - 0 views

  •
What are the essential tools to help the connected Generation C be successful? I bounce around the idea that in fact it may not be technology at all - rather, the vision of the integration of the new essential tools that promote connectivity. Perhaps the new educator mindset should really focus on the ability to re-tool the cognitive skills of Generation C to promote higher level thinking.

Co-meeting -Text Based Realtime Group Discussion- - YouTube - 0 views

  •
co-meeting is a text-based group discussion tool. This live-typing chat tool lets you have a conversation that can also deliver the "atmosphere" which was impossible to share with your participants using traditional chat tools, and also lets you take meeting minutes during a discussion by using the document editor with the real-time concurrent editing ability. Because everything is done through texting, you can have discussions without constraint by time and location and make innovative changes in your meeting style for your teams that suffer from wasteful conferences.

7 Good Screen Capture Tools for Teachers - 0 views

Introducing new technology tools to your students or to your colleagues can become a frustrating exercise if you end up repeating the same step-by-step directions over and over again. Not only is it frustrating for you to repeat those directions, it can also be frustrating for the students who want to go ahead but can't because you're waiting until everyone is on the same page. One way to avoid that is to create annotated screen captures of the tools you're introducing. Another way to avoid repeating directions over and over again is to creating screencast videos in which you explain each step of the process. Here are seven tools that you can use to create annotated screen capture images and screencast videos.

Mural.ly May Be The Mind Mapping Tool You've Been Waiting For - 0 views

  •
Mural.ly is a new tool (still in beta, launched last week) that is a cross between Prezi and mind maps. It's easy to use and share what you create (perfect for most students, teachers, and parents) but the real beauty of mural.ly is in its lack of structure.

Can students access it at other times? In groups?"

Tools for sharing thinking - The Learner's Way - 0 views

  •
"Teachers and students have access to an impressive set of tools for sharing ideas and making thinking visible. The old model of calling out answers to questions has certain limitations and while it remains the mainstay of many classrooms new options allow for a mix of options. Some of our goals are to provide our students with appropriate wait time or think time and to ensure the voice of even our most introverted students is heard. It would also be nice to have a record of our students thinking and a way to easily see patterns of thinking across a group of students."
