YouTube for Schools lets schools access free educational YouTube videos while limiting access to other YouTube content. Students can learn from more than 400,000 educational videos, from well-known organizations like Stanford, PBS and TED, and from up-and-coming YouTube partners with millions of views, like Khan Academy, Steve Spangler Science and numberphile. Schools can also customize their YouTube for Schools experience, adding videos that are only viewable within their school network.

There is a growing controversy over the use of Facebook in education.Some argue for its integration  and others disfavour  it. I believe that the main reason behind this controversy is the lack of solid empirical researches about the overall value of not only Facebook but all other popular social networking in education. As part of Search Education, Google has shared a bunch of lesson plans that are organized by degree of difficulty. So, if you consider yourself and / or your students Google experts, you should try out the more advanced plans. Over the past several weeks UNESCO has been publishing individual titles in its Working Paper Series on Mobile Learning. Recently the Organization concluded the first phase of the Series by releasing two Global Themes papers.  These papers, unlike previous titles, are not region-specific.  Instead they synthesize information contained in the regional papers to identify salient trends that cut across geographic boundaries. One paper, Turning on Mobile Learning: Global Themes, highlights issues policy makers and other stakeholders should consider when infusing mobile learning into education systems.  The other paper, Mobile Learning for Teachers: Global Themes, examines characteristics shared by programmes that assist educators, either by aiding their work in schools or by helping them improve their own pedagogical and content knowledge.

Mxit is South Africa's largest social network with over 50 million subscribers. 70% of those subscribers are between the ages of 15 and 25. Mxit is available to anyone with a WAP-enabled phone and works on almost kinds of 3000 mobile handsets. South Africa has a mobile penetration of 105% and of that 60% of all users have WAP-enabled phones. These statistics indicate that if Siyavula wants to make it's openly-licensed content available to as many learners as possible, Mxit simply cannot be ignored.

Our society is held back by many digital divides. Those who have computers and those who don't. Those who have Internet access and those who don't. Those who create mobile apps in their spare time and those who are over 21.

Critical thinking skills are what we want our students to develop. Without these skills we can not guarantee a sound and effective education that will enable our kids to seamlessly blend in tomorrow 's  job market. Therefore, it is our responsibility as teachers and educators to fully understand the components of this set of skills in order to better focus on them in our instruction.

Personally I would not use this as I like to see those who I follow's tweets even if they are live-tweeting an event. It is like being there with them. Of course this assumes that the people I follow live-tweet things I am interested in!
