Great Expectations for e-Governance in 2013 - 0 views

    e-Governance in India has celebrated a string of successes in 2012. Going from strength to strength on a robust ICT platform, many new initiatives in e-Governance have been launched and the existing initiatives have been further strengthened. 2012 saw the country moving closer to the goal of setting up more than 100,000 Common Service Centres. The work on National Optical Fibre Network (NOFN) is on schedule and the idea of providing 100 Mbps Broadband connectivity to all the Gram Panchayats is likely to be achieved by the end of 2013. The government has also made a move towards creation of enabling framework for direct cash transfers to the account of deserving beneficiaries. The UIDAI has made significant progress in the year 2012 and many new e-Governance initiatives are expected to utilise the UIDAI in the year 2013.

    The government has approved the continuation of e-Governance initiative MCA21, related to compliance of companies with various laws, till July 2021.An initiative of the Corporate Affairs Ministry, MCA21 is designed to fully automate all processes related to enforcement and compliance of the legal requirements under the Companies Act. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approved continuation of MCA21 project for its second cycle from January, 2013 to July, 2021. It will be implemented as a non-plan scheme with an outlay of Rs 357.81 crore, including Rs 54.42 crore for independent project management and certification over the eight-and-a-half year period, according to an official release.

CDAC, Maharashtra Govt. come together to boost e-governance | eGov Magazine - 0 views

    In an effort to boost its e-governance initiative, the Maharashtra government will set up a Centre of Excellence for Marathi in technical collaboration with city-based Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC). The proposed Centre will assist the Directorate of Information Technology (DIT) of the state government in international consortia and other standardisation bodies so that Marathi language gets its rightful place in national and international scenario. Officials also believe that this activity will ensure interoperability between most of the applications across various platforms.

    The Delhi government on Monday announced the launch of the second phase of the Aadhar project, after registration for the 12-digit unique identification number was abruptly closed in February. According to Principal Secretary (revenue) Vijay Dev, applicants must get their documents attested by a government officer or a retired government officer.
