CDAC, Maharashtra Govt. come together to boost e-governance | eGov Magazine - 0 views

    In an effort to boost its e-governance initiative, the Maharashtra government will set up a Centre of Excellence for Marathi in technical collaboration with city-based Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC). The proposed Centre will assist the Directorate of Information Technology (DIT) of the state government in international consortia and other standardisation bodies so that Marathi language gets its rightful place in national and international scenario. Officials also believe that this activity will ensure interoperability between most of the applications across various platforms.

Mysore University ready to adopt e-Governance | eGov Magazine - 0 views

    Being the oldest varsity in the state, the University of Mysore's move is expected to make it a paperless system. Sources revealed that the move has been planned in order to deal with the staff shortage facing the varsity. According to plans, Crawford Hall, the administrative headquarters of the university and other departments including academic sections would be included under the e-governance. Pursuing the plan, a blue print has been prepared to turn e-governance into reality. The university has 58 study centres, eight research centres, four postgraduate centres and employs more than 600 staff in the districts of Mysore, Hassan, Mandya and Chamarajanagar. The university has 112 offices in order to maintain its administrative process. More than 90,000 in these four districts are pursuing various courses in the university.

    Sachin Pilot, the minister of State in the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology launched Panchayat Sanchar Sewa Kendras (PSSKs) under the 'Panchayat Sanchar Sewa Yojana' scheme are opened at the Gram Panchayat Headquarters which are without Post Offices to provide basic postal facilities at Gram Panchayat Headquarters. This scheme is being implemented by the Gram Panchayats through agents appointed by them (Gram Panchayats) with the written consent of the concerned Superintendent/ Senior Superintendent of Post Offices. This is also subject to receipt of applications from the heads of the Gram Panchayats.

UIDAI signs 7 year deal with HCL Infosystems | eGov Magazine - 0 views

    HCL Infosystems has signed a seven-year contract with The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) to implement and manage the Central ID Repository (CIDR) for UIDAI. The entire end-to-end technology infrastructure of the UIDAI will be managed by HCL Infosystems as the designated managed services provider (MSP). The company will be responsible for procurement and installation of the IT infrastructure, implementation of information security management systems and operations support and maintenance. The scope of work also includes technical helpdesk, support services and database administration. Commenting on the tie-up, BB Nanawati, deputy director general (Technology) at UIDAI said it's looking forward to maximising the efficiency with the help of the managed service provider.

    The Delhi government on Monday announced the launch of the second phase of the Aadhar project, after registration for the 12-digit unique identification number was abruptly closed in February. According to Principal Secretary (revenue) Vijay Dev, applicants must get their documents attested by a government officer or a retired government officer. The state government has already begun the exercise. After identifying the schools and government buildings which will act as makeshift offices for issue of the unique identification cards, announcement for phase II will be advertised.

SEBI to consider Aadhar card as address proof | eGov Magazine - 0 views

    Aadhaar letter issued by Unique Identification Authority of India is now admissible as proof of address, said SEBI. This was stated in a circular issued on Monday to exchanges, AMFI and regulated intermediaries. The Aadhaar letter will be added to the list of documents admissible as proof of address for uniform KYC requirements. In another circular, SEBI directed all listed companies to obtain authentication on SCORES (SEBI Complaints Redress System) by September 14. The regulator said companies have to take necessary steps on complaints pending against them within seven days of receipt of complaints on SCORES. The complaint has to be resolved by the company within 30 days. The company also has to keep the entity which filed the complaint informed on the action taken.

    The Indian Leaf Tobacco Development (ILTD) Division of ITC is exploring mobile telephony-based technology tools for personalised farmer communication. This comes after the popular e-Choupal initiative, which transformed the agricultural procurement value chain in the country. The service, known as 'Namma Sandesh' is an interactive mobile telephony based communication service to farmers for provision of crop advisory on best agronomy practises, market prices, weather forecast and local news to farmers.
