Officials believe that the cause of the collapse was the addition of floors to the church that the foundation of the building could not support. There had been at least five South African tour groups visiting the church at the time of the collapse. This is the first time in recent history that a massive number of South Africans have died on foreign soil.

This article also ends with an interesting part about a small plane circling over the building, which could mean it was an inside job by Robert Mugabe to eliminate pressure for him to win another election. This may or may not be true, just my thoughts.

President Zuma said that 67 of his compatriots died on Friday night, which is thought to be one of the worst tragedies in South African history, even more than many of the massacres during the time of Apartheid.
