I recently attended a workshop with Sesame Street where they spoke about their "Little Children, Big Challenges" initiative. The site is full of videos for families dealing with issues such as separation, parents in the military, divorce, and more.
Children can create stories with dictation. App records their voice, and then they can make accompanying pictures. Stories can be emailed to parents, grandparents, etc.
This gives you a very long list of accessible and free resources for NYC children and families which contain details for food and fitness activities, health and affordability, farm visits, green and markets. Most are free or at low cost. It is a great resource for parents to refer to.
An exciting new concept- teaching children as early as Pre-K how to code/program with simple apps and games. Teaches useful skills that this generation will need.
Story maker where children can draw pictures and record corresponding text for their story. They can also add pictures or stickers. Completed books can be added to a class library and shared with the whole class or with families.
