"6 reasons to encourage enterprise conversations with collaborative platforms": Try to tell a manager, who's been fighting againtst chattings that are synonymous with wasted time and bad productivity for years, that his staff now need to have conversations, and, even worse, that his role is to stimulate these conversations….and look at the manager's face

One of the most common questions we get is about the use of computers in museum settings.  Are they necessary?  Should museums be putting them in to attract broader audiences?  Do visitors expect them?  Or do visitors come to museums for other reasons?

I recently read an interesting study by my friend Kate Ehrlich at IBM and her colleague Sadat Shami, It is titled, Microblogging Inside and Outside the Workplace and looks at how corporate employees use microblogging tools. This effort conducted a content analysis comparing over 5,000 posts between March and June 2009 from individuals who were using an internal proprietary tool and Twitter simultaneously.  Within these 5,000 plus posts, 58% were done with twitter and 42% were done with the internal tool so there is a reasonable balance for the comparison.

o one can have a "museum experience" without stepping foot in a museum. Let's just get that out of the way. It doesn't matter how digitally precise your online version of "The Forge of Vulcan" is, tilting your head to draw the light across the raised ridges of paint is not an electronically duplicable experience. That doesn't mean digital art collections don't have great value. After all, art books do. So here are half a dozen great digital art collections you can visit to inspire your own trip, or your own thinking about art, or to remind yourself or to learn a bit for no other reason than digital art is better by far than no art at all.
