This article explains how social media, mobility, and cloud computing is directly related to e-marketing. The article examines the pros and cons of social media marketing and the effects it has on everyday life. We learn that merchandising is a major part of social networking because of the brand loyalty and the ease of online shopping programs by individual online company websites. This article shares its views on how the hospitality industry uses technology. In my opinion retail stores and other various places that rely on e-marketing should be aware of what people are looking for in an online site that offers a product. Using social media to promote a company is common in business today. Its important for businesses to realize that the internet is a powerful tool that can be used to launch a successful company.

Amadeus has made it easier for travel agencies and travel management companies to book hotels and its amenities in one spot. They are providing a way for companies to save money on hotel rooms by showing last room availability and "rate squatters". Amadeus has incorporated previously unavailable hotels into the system for ease of booking. This system adds "automation" to the point-of-sale and allows travel agents the ability to find smaller and independent hotels in the system. I believe that this new system will help with the economy and boost travel within the industry.

With the world becoming more aware of the need to recycle, hotels are making efforts to decrease their environmental footprint but taking steps to reduce their energy use. Some hotels according to the article are using "vermicomposting" to eliminate any waste that is created in their hotel. I think that its a good system for smaller boutique hotels, however there can be some financial perks for larger hotels and resorts by selling the compost to agricultural firms. It's becoming more trendy for hotels and resorts to instal low flow faucets and other bathroom fixtures as well as use compact incandescent light bulbs. There are some hotels that control the HVAC of the property wirelessly to reduce the use of wasted energy in the rooms and lower emissions. Its important for our industry to make significant changes immediately in order to decrease our overall footprint.
