The residents of Seaside Heights, the town where the MTV show "Jersey Shore" takes place along with Italian-Americans throughout the country are outraged how the show's cast members wear the terms "guido" and "guidet" with pride. Italian-American organizations are demanding the show should be canceled and many companies have stopped advertising for the show. Overall many Italians are upset that the cast members of the television show are proving that the stereotype of Italian-Americans are real in some cases.

In this article they are not talking a lot about the plot and setting about Jersey Shore. Rather, they are talking about the word guido and the stereotype this show is making. This article is saying that the word guido is a word that is very offensive to all Italian Americans. They say the word guido is a very offensive word for Italian Americans and they are shocked by how MTV is using it like it means nothing on network television. The article definitely has a point because the word guido is a very demeaning word for Italian Americans. The article talks about how the word guido is not the term you could usually call someone and pretend it's not a big deal. They say that because of the show Jersey Shore, it is a much more common word and it is making the population of young Italian Americans look bad.

Obesity as many of us know, is a growing problem in the United States. It is extremely prevalent among the younger generation, as kids are more susceptible to advertisements on television and on the Internet. As this article states, children have a great influence over the food their parents buy. To put it bluntly, children can be annoying. They can scream and yell, essentially embarrassing you into buying them whatever they want. Years ago, discipline amongst parents was much stricter and a child who mouthed off would be subject to corporal punishment. However, society has greatly evolved, and in many families, the power balance among children and adults has shifted. Fast food advertisers are aware of this and take full advantage by placing commercials during popular television networks like Disney channel and Nickelodeon. Also, as the Internet has become more popular amongst young adults, advertisements for sugary snacks and greasy fried food have also increased. Obesity will continue to be a big issue in the United States but we can no longer only place the blame on the lack of options in supermarkets or parents themselves but rather advertisements in media that are negatively influencing children causing them to make bad decisions.
