Department of EEE, Hindustan University (Chennai Engineering Colleges) conducted workshop on ''Energy Conservation and Energy Audit'' on 19th July 2011. The workshop was conducted for the benefit of final year EEE, M.E (PED) & M.E (AE) students. There were around 100 participants.

This project deals with airplane using battery power and solar energy as their source of energy for more than 24 hours of flight. Using solar panels, they collect sun's energy during the day for immediate use and store the remaining part for the night flight.

The workshop on "Energy Nano Convergence 2012" was organized by the Clean Energy and Nano Convergence (CENCON), Research Centre of Hindustan Institute of Technology & Science (HITS) from 5th -6th January 2012 at Hindustan University, Padur Campus, Chennai.

Evolution of future strategies in renewable energy resources, integration of existing systems with renewable resources, design and control of energy efficient systems discussed.

"Energy - Present and Future from Material Science point of View '' a lecture was conducted by Prof. Rajeev Ahuja , Department of Physics and Material Science Condensed Matter Theory, Uppasala University, Sweden on 02 nd August 2011, 11 a.m at HITS. He gave a lecture on Computational Material Science and density functional theory. He discussed on clean form of Energy - Hydrogen Oxygen Fuel cell and Solid form of hydrogen storage methods using Nano tubes. He also explained about Lead acid batteries and Li- ion batteries. He emphasized Hydrogen as a future form of energy source.

Department of Mechanical Engineering, Hindustan University is conducting two days International Conference on 'Recent Trends in Renewable Energy Systems (ICRTIRES - 2011)', during March 17th & 18th , 2011.

National Conference on Energy, Systems and Control -NCESC'11 was organized by Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering for two days from 20th - 21st April ,2011 as part of the Silver Jubilee Celebrations of Hindustan University, (One of the Best Chennai Engineering Colleges ).

Department of EEE conducted one day seminar on ''Recent Trends and Development in Wind Energy'' on 25th January 2012. The seminar was conducted for the benefit of pre final year, final year EEE, M.E (PED) & M.E (AE) students. There were around 100 participants.

United States Academy International Development (USAID) from The American People India, Energy Conservation and Commercialization (ECO) - III Project has announced that 'Hindustan Institute of Science and Technology' has been selected as one of their partner Institute. The selection was done on the basis of the architectural curriculum survey done based on the reports furnished by the School of Architecture, HITS.
