This is what some very talented current students at HGSE are working on. It's a solid plan, with a talented and diverse team of educators and media producers. And it's taking off! So heads up everyone. This is part of the next phase of your plan too ;-) Just look at the production value!

Really good article about one teacher's experience with a flipped classroom, why she stopped using that model and how the idea of flipping made her a better teacher.
Thanks for posting this - a really good synthesis of flipping w/ PBL - and why flipping is more than videos, written by somebody who knows what she is talking about.
Agreed Steve, and thanks for posting this Heather. It answered questions I didn't even know I had about the "flipped" classroom and is also an empowering example the important role of the teacher in student-centered learning.
Thanks Heather, for posting, and Lauren, for suggesting...anybody who is taking T440 and loves the concept but feels skeptical about its real-world plausibility should read this article.

Hm...so Samsung invested in smart whiteboard and tablet technology in a Memphis school as part of their "market research" into the US education market. I'm not sure if this is a good thing? On Monday, February 27, 2012, SIGTE is presenting a free webinar with Dr. Penelope Swenson discussing her use of iPad's with pre-service teachers. The basis of the discussion is a presentation by Dr. Swenson last Spring, entitled, "iPad-the Third Hand," asking a rather global question, will a select group of pre-service teachers incorporate the iPad into their lives, hearts, studying, and, eventually, teaching?
A new idea for text books: "Books are one of the defining inventions of the civilisation-and today they are poised for a revolution. Our aim is to create a new kind of book that makes use of emerging technology to redefine the book, reinvent publishing, and forever transform the act of reading."
I'm adding this one for a few reaspons, 1) the nature of the conference and it's stated focus of "strengthening connected online communities of online practice" 2) the auther, Douglas Rushkoff is a favorite of mine. He's been commenting on subjects of interest to me for some time.
Adults these days (especially those who love themselves some Dateline) seem really into chastising video games those crazy kids are into as symptomatic of the human race's inevitable, steady decline. Like every hobby and medium, legitimate concerns regarding these technologies certainly exist, but their complete lack of validity is decidedly not amongst them.
Increasingly, digital games are cropping up everywhere in education. And that's stimulated a flurry of activity leading to the expectation that no longer are learning games only likely to come from traditional education companies, but a wide variety of sources. The expectation-setting stats and statements, at least, are straightforward.
