What Are the Alternatives to Refined Sugar? - 2 views

  •
Excessive sugar consumption has become one of the leading medical and dental health issues. Sugar is one of the main causes of tooth decay and has a number of medical drawbacks associated with it. Eating too much sugar can contribute to people having too many calories, which can lead to weight gain. Being overweight increases your risk of health problems such as heart disease, some cancers, and type 2 diabetes. As people have become more aware of the issues surrounding refined sugar, a number of sugar alternatives have come onto the market. In this article, we'll be looking at the most popular Alternatives to Refined Sugar, how they work, and if they are actually a healthier option. Natural Sweeteners One of the more popular alternatives to refined sugar is so-called natural sweeteners. A good example of a natural sweetener is coconut sugar. Coconut sugar is also called coconut palm sugar. It's a natural sugar made from coconut palm sap, which is the sugary circulating fluid of the coconut plant. It is often confused with palm sugar, which is similar but made from a different type of palm tree. Coconut sugar is still metabolized by oral bacteria in a similar way to refined sugar but it has a much lower glycaemic index. This means it does not trigger the same blood sugar spikes and crashes associated with refined sugar. It also contains small amounts of various minerals, giving it a slight nutritional edge on refined sugar. However, despite being marginally more healthy, replacing all your refined sugar with natural sweeteners will not drastically improve your diet or your oral health. Honey and Syrups Various natural liquid sweeteners are alternatives to refined sugar during cooking. Examples include honey, maple syrup, date syrup, brown rice syrup, and agave syrup. These syrups do have some slight nutritional value, however, they also have varying levels of unrefined sugar, making some only marginally more healthy than sugar. Nutritionists

bmx cycle helmet - 2 views

Falling can happen while skating or biking. The head requires protection to keep it safe, but are skateboard helmets and bike helmets the same thing? Safety should be the first consideration when deciding between skate and bike helmets, but options are still abundant. It's important that helmets work properly. You don't want to ride your town bike to the neighborhood coffee shop while wearing your equestrian helmet for reasons other than the fact that you would look ridiculous. Of course, various variations are a result of sport-specific features and fashion. Do a lot of skating activities, like in-line skating, rolling-skating, using a kick-scooter, electric skateboarding, longboarding, and skateboarding, not also put the user at danger of one significant impact? The answer is yes. As a result, the majority of skate helmets on the market today are dual-certified and meet CPSC requirements. For aesthetic reasons, several casual road cyclists, commuters, and mountain bikers use skate type helmets.

Community pharmacy : Coping with pressure - 0 views

  •
The country as a whole is facing uncertain and challenging times, and for our profession emerging from the second year of the pandemic, the pressures and stresses don't look to be easing up. It is undeniable that the wellbeing of those in our pharmacy family has suffered and many face emotional and psychological challenges in addition to immense workplace pressure. What do we know about the state of wellbeing within the profession? As the profession's independent charity, it is crucial that Pharmacist Support keeps abreast of the changing needs of the profession to enable us to meet the needs of those we are here to help. To do this, each year we collaborate with the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) to carry out an annual workforce Wellbeing Survey. The last survey carried out was in the latter part of 2021 but nothing has changed since. And the results provided stark reading. Of the 1,014 responses received, many reported living with 'poor' or 'very poor' mental health and wellbeing. The survey results highlight a continued clear need for mental health and wellbeing support. Within the survey, it was identified that there is a very clear need for independent assistance, with many saying they feel unable to talk to their employers about their mental health issues. The need for our charity has never been clearer.
