mmunе system boosters and immunomodulators are major therapeutic agents used to treat hepatitis, herpes, cancer. Therefore they should not be used to boost the immune system, and to be appointed by the specialist after a careful review. One of the functions of the immune system is to regulate cell growth, that prevent viral and bacterial diseases. Therefore, not all well evaluated using immunomodulatory agents may cause "immune error" and cause serious health problems (e.g., unlocking the autoimmune disease).

As part of community service in our pharmacies we provide advice, help and support on the importance of a varied and balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle. This has been especially important during the Covid-19 pandemic as many of our customers are understandably even more concerned about their immune health and how they can help boost their immunity during this time in order to protect themselves as far as possible. We help them understand the relevance of good nutrition, the importance doing exercise (where possible), and how they can take steps to reduce risk over these worrying times. Twindemic of flu and Covid:Warning of difficult winter UK - 0 views

  •
British health officials on Wednesday (September 28) warned that increased circulation of flu and a resurgence in Covid-19 could lead to a difficult winter that increases pressure on the already stretched NHS. Warnings over a possible "twindemic" of Covid-19 and flu have been issued each winter since the start of the coronavirus pandemic in early 2020, but Covid restrictions that limited social contact have meant flu levels stayed low. However, the government ended coronavirus restrictions earlier this year, meaning that social contact rates have returned to near pre-pandemic norms while immunity to flu is relatively low. The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) said that given the risk it was important those eligible took up vaccines against Covid and flu. "There are strong indications we could be facing the threat of widely circulating flu, lower levels of natural immunity due to less exposure over the last three winters and an increase in Covid-19 circulating," said Susan Hopkins, chief medical advisor at UKHSA.

An old proverb that comes to mind in the pursuit of the twin objectives of serenity and health is this: the mind and the body are inexorably intertwined. This essential, often overlooked, connection is at the heart of our ability to manage stress and foster a sense of well-being. But how does one truly achieve relaxation, and how does it translate to a healthier way of living? From ancient practices to modern breakthroughs, the path to stress relief and overall health is illuminated by a multifaceted approach that combines mindfulness, diet, exercise, and even the judicious use of calming products. The nexus between stress relief and well-being is rich and layered. By exploring various strategies, we can uncover the tapestry of tranquility that ultimately leads to a richer, more vital life. Relaxation Leads to a Healthier Mind and Body Relaxation is not just a warm bath or an hour of Netflix; it is the conscious unclenching of the mind and the body's release of tension. It's a critical ingredient in the complex recipe for overall health and plays a significant role in the functioning of the immune system, the maintenance of a healthy heart, and the regulation of moods. To relax, people take wellness CBD gummies that offer a natural, convenient route to unwind without the psychedelic effects often associated with the substance. Relaxation techniques also encompass meditation, deep breathing, progressive muscle relaxation, and guided imagery. Each method has its loyal practitioners, but the central tenet remains the same - in relaxation lies a wellspring of health.

Health Benefits & Risks of Fasting - 0 views

  •
Fasting is considered a religious duty across different communities. However, this kind of fasting is completely different from medical fasting which is believed to have multiple positive effects on human body. Medical fasting could refer to periodical intake of food and drink. A study by Dr Valter Longo and his co-researchers at the University of Southern California have found that abstaining food and drink for 2-4 hours could regenerate new immune cells in place of old removed ones, thereby rebooting the immunity system. This process could build up protection against cell damages that may be caused by chemotherapy and aging.

Probiotics : 6 SIgns to know it is beneficial for your child - 0 views

  •
Kids get stomach problems all the time due to low immunity or lifestyle risk factors. While taking medications can reduce a bloated stomach or excess diarrhea, learning how to improve gut health can help your kid avoid stomach problems. One of the most effective gut health products is probiotics. Whether you plan to provide your kid with good strains of gut bacteria through Sproutedbiome supplements or introducing the good bacteria through diet, knowing what to expect can help you determine if they are working. HOW TO KNOW IF YOUR KID IS RESPONDING TO PROBIOTICS? Fewer tantrums and outbursts Gut health and mental health go hand-in-hand. A child with gas or stomach cramps tends to be fussy. The fussiness may progress to outbursts and tantrums due to symptoms in the gut. Probiotics trigger serotonin production, a neurotransmitter that improves your child's mood, sleep and appetite. If your once moody child starts getting happy and has sufficient sleep after taking probiotics, you will know they are working.

Monkeypox: British agencies win CEPI funds to develop tools - 0 views

  •
British health agencies have secured funding to develop a standardised approach to test the performance of vaccines being used or in development against monkeypox, days after the World Health Organization labelled the growing outbreak a global health emergency. The Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) said it would give up to $375,000 to the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) and Health Security Agency (UKHSA) to develop standard tools to assess the strength and duration of immune responses generated by current vaccines, and for tests used to detect monkeypox antibody levels. Apart from administration fees, these tools will be made freely available to the global scientific community, paving the way for a common standardised assessment between countries documenting vaccine performance against monkeypox, CEPI said. Until this year, the viral disease has rarely spread outside Africa where it is endemic. But reports of a handful of cases in Britain in early May signalled that the outbreak had moved into Europe. So far, there have been more than 16,000 confirmed cases of monkeypox in more than 75 countries.

Omicron : WHO tracks two new sub-variants - 0 views

  •
The World Health Organization says it is tracking a few dozen cases of two new sub-variants of the highly transmissible Omicron strain of the coronavirus to assess whether they are more infectious or dangerous. It has added BA.4 and BA.5, sister variants of the original BA.1 Omicron variant, to its list for monitoring. It is already tracking BA.1 and BA.2 - now globally dominant - as well as BA.1.1 and BA.3. The WHO said on Monday (April 11) it had begun tracking them because of their "additional mutations that need to be further studied to understand their impact on immune escape potential". Viruses mutate all the time but only some mutations affect their ability to spread or evade prior immunity from vaccination or infection, or the severity of disease they cause. For instance, BA.2 now represents nearly 94% of all sequenced cases and is more transmissible than its siblings, but the evidence so far suggests it is no more likely to cause severe disease.

Revolutionizing Cancer Treatment: mRNA Therapy Breakthrough UK - 0 views

  •
Cancer patients in the UK are being given a new immunotherapy treatment at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust as part of a global phase 1/2 clinical trial, which aims to evaluate its safety and potential for treating 'solid tumour' cancers such as melanoma and lung cancer. The experimental therapy, called mRNA-4359, has been designed to train patients' immune systems to recognise and fight cancer cells, according to researchers at Imperial College London. For the first time in the UK, cancer patients received the treatment at the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Imperial Clinical Research Facility at Hammersmith Hospital. In this non-randomised trial, mRNA-4359 is administered to patients either alone or in combination with an existing cancer drug called pembrolizumab, a type of immune checkpoint inhibitor. The researchers are hopeful that this new therapeutic approach, if proven to be safe and effective in clinical trials, could lead to a new treatment option for difficult-to-treat cancers.

Dietary supplements is here to stay healthy - 0 views

  •
Community pharmacists are readily accessible healthcare providers and medicine experts in the community setting and their counsel is often sought by patients and consumers on a number of subjects including the use of dietary supplements. Their role in the sale of and advice regarding natural health and drug alternatives has never been more relevant. The recent National Health Service (NHS) Interim People Plan calls for the NHS to put all staff front and centre of the way it operates and identifies pharmacists as a critical part of multidisciplinary teams, providing care across a wide range of increasingly complex patient needs. Despite existing demand to counsel patients on a vast range of medicines, more and more consumers are looking to their pharmacist to support and enhance their knowledge regarding the relevance of a growing range of supplementary nutrients now available. Nutritional supplementation is increasingly becoming the consumer's first choice for 'drug free' treatment or natural prevention that provides a true sense of taking control, which the prescription process often denies them. Historically the immense benefits provided by the NHS have instilled a general abdication of our personal health control, leaving us to rely on the health service to treat and cure as necessary. As our NHS has become visibly over-stretched we begin to realise what the rest of the world has known for centuries - good health is based primarily upon nutritional robustness. It may be stating the obvious but there is an excellent source of incremental revenue for the pharmacist who is willing to provide space to and advice for nutritional supplements.

The Anti - Flu Diet; Wildwood Lifestyle Center - 0 views

Wouldn't it be wonderful if there was a delicious diet that could greatly reduce your risk for getting the flu? It is now recognized that the flu shot for this year's flu season (2014-2015) only provides 23% protection, and less than that if you are older than 65. A well-balanced vegetarian diet does improve immune efficiency by helping to double the number of natural killer cells (special immune cells that destroy viruses and cancer cells). Read more.
