A successful example of the Long Tail Theory, Oak Knoll Press, publisher of rare, out of print books, managed to increase its sales this year-despite catering to a niche audience-by focusing on what loyal customers ask for instead of what doesn't sell.

Sorry, this didn't seem to bookmark the first time. But it looks like niche magazines are getting hit hard by lost advertising revenue.

Kevin Kelly produces a print version of his free on-line "Cool Tools" website. "Paper is really unnecessary for a lot of things, but very good at certain things. And this turned out to be one of them."

Interesting look at how there are new niches in old technologies formed as the demand for archiving increases but the technologies that formed the originals fall out of popular use.

I find it interesting that while some of us in the US are lamenting the decline of the book, in other places in the world books and book production are actually enjoying a surge....
