"Vídeos ▼ https://vimeo.com/pannirbr ► RELATORIOS GESTAO ENCONOMICA Geoff Moxham - Biochar Lecture - 90min https://vimeo.com/ This is the final full lecture given by Geoff before his fatal accident in August 2009 and the public release of this video is intended as a second anniversary remembrance tribute for 27/8/2011. It was part of the ongoing workshops held at The Castle on the Hill in Uki near Mt Warning http://www.castleonhill.com/workshops.htm/ You can explore all Geoff's work on his website http://www.bodgershovel.com/ including a collection of videos demonstrating various pyrolysis and Biochar production techniques. This extended 90 minute talk shows Geoff in great form, complete with a supportive slide presentation, pyrolysis gadgets, him munching on Biochar samples, pyromania and his usual, unique Mad Scientist sense of humour. It's easy to see his skill as a qualified Industrial Arts teacher showing through and his early fascination with Professor Julius Sumner Miller on the TV show 'Why Is It So?', which he watched religiously in the early 60's. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LIfxV7uNZXQ It is also beautiful to watch his sense of fluid movement as he describes his concepts with his whole body and energy field. As a Tai Chi master you can see many of the Tai Chi set moves incorporated into his presentation. Geoff was the second speaker at The Castle that day along with John Davis from The Rainbow Power Company in Nimbin who gave an overview of solar power. This Vimeo video copy is Part Two of a DVD filmed and produce by Paul Tait from Gaia Films in Nimbin who has kindly given permission to upload Geoff's part of the lecture in full and make it publicly available at no charge. The full DVD, including the talk on solar power, is still available from Paul Tait gaiafilm@linearg.com for a very nominal price. You can find out all about the Biochar movement now from the primary person who continued Geoff's work by exploring Paul Taylor's website http://w

PRETREATMENT OF LIGNOCELLULOSIC BIOMASS FOR ENZYMATIC HYDROLYSIS - 0 views

  •
"ABSTRACTThe cost of raw materials continues to be a limiting factor in the production of bio-ethanol from traditional raw materials, such as sugar and starch. At the same time, there are large amount of agricultural residues as well as industrial wastes that are of low or negative value (due to costs of current effluent disposal methods). Dilute sulfuric acid pretreatment of elephant grass and wood residues for the enzymatic hydrolysis of cellulose has been investigated in this study. Elephant grass (agricultural residue) and sawdust (Pulp and Paper Industry waste) with a small particulate size were treated using different dilute sulfuric acid concentrations at a temperature of 140-170C within 0.5-3 hours. The appropriate pretreatment conditions give the highest yield of soluble saccharides and total reducing sugars"

Catalytic steam reforming of model biogas - ScienceDirect - 0 views

  •
Catalytic steam reforming of a model biogas (CH4/CO2 = 60/40) is investigated to produce H2-rich synthesis gas. Gas engines benefit from synthesis gas fuel in terms of higher efficiency and lower NOx production when compared to raw biogas or CH4. The process is realized in a fixed bed reactor with a Ni-based catalyst on CaO/Al2O3 support. To optimize the performance, the reactor temperature and the amount of excess steam are varied. The experimental results are compared to the theoretical values from thermodynamic calculation and the main trends of CH4 conversion and H2 yield are analyzed and verified. Finally, optimal reactor temperature is pointed out and a range of potential steam to methane ratios is presented. The experimental results will be applied to design a steam reformer at an existing anaerobic biomass fermentation plant in Strem, Austria.
