    This brief article by Arnie Samlan supports the approach outlined in the article shared by Abby below. People are looking for relationships. I don't believe that this means that social networks are not, therefore, useful. Quite the opposite, it means that we need to think carefully about how we use them in tandem with critical offerings on a one-to-one basis.

    I have heard community described as concentric circles. The innermost is filled with those who are actively involved.
    Each successive ring represents a lesser degree of involvement. In a synagogue, for example, can a person who only comes once a year to High Holiday services still be considered a community member? Is membership defined by self-identification or some quantitative measure of involvement?
