"EPA has released a draft guideline on Energy from Waste, consistent with the Victorian Government's Getting full value: the Victorian Waste and Resource Recovery Policy. The guideline outlines how the Environment Protection Act 1970 and associated policies and regulations are applied to the assessment of proposals that recover energy from waste. The document provides high level guidance for industry, government and the community on EPA expectations and requirements for the siting, design, construction and operation of such facilities."

"Australia's largest concentrated photovoltaic (CPV) solar power plant was officially opened today, with the Victorian energy minister joining executives from the plant's developer, Solar Systems, to cut the ribbon on the 1.5MW demonstration facility in Mildura. The demonstration of the "dense array" solar technology of parent company Silex Systems is a fore-runner for what is expected to be a 100MW power plant, with construction slated to begin in 2014. Another 1MW demonstration plant is being built in Saudi Arabia, with hopes of further development as that country pushes into the start of a $100 billion solar spending program"

"26 August 2013 - The Victorian government has announced $3.59 million in funding to improve the energy efficiency of the state's commercial office buildings. The Smarter Resources Smarter Business - Energy Efficient Office Buildings program will provide matched grant funding of between $20,000 and $150,000 to mid-tier commercial office building owners to deliver energy savings."

"The Future Economy Group, a new coalition of businesses and environmental leaders, has joined forces to research and advocate the importance of innovation and natural capital to Victoria's economy. We sponsored detailed research that shows that nature and economy are inextricably linked and quantifies the impact on the Victorian economy and jobs if our environment continues to decline. "December 02, 2009 , 9:24 AM by Prue Bentley In the last 24 hours, Tony Abbott has come under fire for his comments on the veracity of climate change. The media has seized on his claim to a small local Victorian paper that "climate change is crap". In the context of his leadership this is curious as Mr Abbott seems to have spun 180 degrees in his estimation of human influenced climate change in as little as a few hours / votes. The paper in question happened to be the Pyrenees Advocate and the Editor of the paper, Craig Wilson, was there when those words were uttered."

The competitive, merit-based $1 million grants program encourages partnerships between local government, business and community to address the challenge of resource recovery in public places. The total $800,000 grant funds available are for projects that involve education and infrastructure."
