PANAJI: If the government takes up the offer, Goa could become the first state in India to be on 3D Google maps which will allow viewers 3D imagery of every nook and corner of the state. Google India has also offered to sponsor or incubate at least 1,000 information technology startups in Goa through its funded programmes through other partner agencies.

"PANAJI: Giving a boost to Goa's efforts to attract industries, the National University of Singapore has found that the state scores higher than India's average when it comes to productivity, quality of life and connectivity. The results are part of a survey of macro indicators conducted by the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy of the National University of Singapore across 35 states and Union territories. "

"PANAJI: The Goa IT Professionals (GITP) association has written to chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar and defence minister Manohar Parrikar, besides several industrialists on the investment promotion board to seriously consider the proposal put forth by Lava International to setup a 1,200-1,500 crore manufacturing plant in Goa. PANAJI: GWave - the internet service, which is a value addition to the Goa government's public-private-partnership GBBN ( Goa Broad Band Network) project - seems to be getting popular with the public. Launched in 2012, when the service had around 350 accounts (mostly corporate clients), the service today has around 3,000 accounts, including hotels and homes.

PANAJI: Scarcity of employment opportunities has often prompted Goans to leave the state in search of better opportunities. PANAJI: L&A Tech, a Verna-based IT startup, has been acquired by a German IT company for 1 million euros, the first such acquisition for any Goan startup. The transfer of technology process is still under way and the promoters of L&A Tech have been offered the choice to come onboard the German company or opt out, founder Lucio Mesquita said.

Panaji: In a strong indicator of Goa's strength in the information technology sector, web and product development startup, DCCPER (pronounced deeper), is seriously deliberating an expansion into the Central American and Scandinavian region in the near future.

"PANJIM: Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar on Friday announced the drafting of information technology (IT) investment policy, which would invite national as well as international IT companies to invest in the State, and generate nearly 10,000 jobs in the sector in the next one-and-half year. Parsekar, who is the IT minister, said that government in its Budget 2015-16 has proposed to set up an electronic city at Tuem industrial estate and IT park at Chimbel and in a bid to expedite the process, a committee comprising all heads of the departments concerned including town and country planning, forest, power and PWD has been constituted to grant required permissions."

"PANJIM, AUG 6 Chief Minister Digambar Kamat on Thursday stated that the government would make all efforts to get the Rajiv Gandhi IT Habitat at Dona Paula started so that Information Technology (IT) professionals can get job placements in the State itself. The chief minister made the statement while speaking on the Goa Appropriation Bill (No 3), 2009 (Goa budget) in the Goa Assembly on Thursday. �I will hold a dialogue with all stakeholders of the Rajiv Gandhi IT Habitat so that the project comes up.
