Flightradar24.com - Live flight tracker! - 1 views

  •
Extremely useful website (and Android and iPad app) that is real-time flight tracking. Click on any yellow plane to pull up a side menu that gives you flight data (altitude, latitude, longitude, vertical speed, etc.). Click on 3D and it will bring up a cockpit view (you must have Google Earth installled to access this feature).

Love this, I think this might be useful for my yr 9 students. They are tracking the production, of a product from the thought to the shelf in a globalisation unit and plotting the locations onto Google Maps at the moment. I think this could be used for the same purpose. I like giving options to the students.

Track ships etc in real time I continue to be amazed by the capacity of spatial technologies to be used for tracking objects on a range of scales in real time. They still have the abilityto take the breath away of those uninitiated in the world of spatial technology (now the wonder of Google Earth is just met with familiarity and little awe) .
