A companion group has been added - the Genealogy Research Support group. The goal of the support group is to provide howto information on search and organization. While this group tells you where to go to find helpful information, the support group tells you how to craft a query, organize your notes or create a research plan.


If you have a favorite research tip or know a good article about getting organized, please stop by the support group and add it to the collection. Even the smallest item adds to the knowledge base for the entire community.

I have bookmarked Tim Agazio's wonderful collection of links to state historical society sites as he has posted them. I'm also working on adding the digital libraries/archives from Jimmy Atkinson's fabulous Online Education Database site. Each of those bookmarks are added to this group.

If anyone would like to help bookmarking the OEDB collection, I'd love to have ya'. I'm using "history archive genarchive local" as the standard tags for any historical data collection along with the state and even county/city to better organize the collection. Each bookmark should be included in this group. If you have a state or local group you'd also like to save them to - that's even better.

As sites are bookmarked, please leave a note here which section you've completed to prevent duplication of effort.

A collection of map links have been added to the group thanks to George Morgan's post on useful maps for research.

Also included a link to Google Maps which just recently added a My Maps feature allowing users to build, save and share customized maps. The Route 66 map shown on their front page is a great example of its capabilities.
