NASA climate change website! - 5 views

This website is very thorough in examining the causes and effects of climate change. The website stated that temperatures have risen up to 2 degrees across the entire planet, causing natural disasters, poor air quality, and destruction of wildlife and habitat. Although climate change is natural and there has been 7 glacial retreats in the last 650,000 years, the recent temperatures are off the charts and carbon dioxide levels are higher than they have ever been, showing it is linked to human oil consumption. Global temperatures, sea level rise, shrinking ice sheets, warming ocean waters, glacial retreats, and extreme events are all signs of the global warming that is plaguing the planet. This website confirmed my original point-of-view on the global warming issue because it showed how this is uncommon for previous climate changes and how the warming can create natural disasters.

This is a website from NASA and it has differs videos, and articles describing some of the news that has happened lately with the concept of Climate Change. One of my favorite arrivals firm this website was the seeing salty shifts article/videos. It shows the changes that had happened recently in the climates color changes. Hope you guys enjoy. This also says that the carbon dioxide levels have been higher than they have ever been that can eventually destroy animal life and all of their habitat because there is too much CO2, terrible air quality due to pollution. This is evident that humans have started the pollution rates in the atmosphere. Climate change can cause many different disasters to happen in the world. Another really cool part about this website was all if the detailed pictures that it showed. I really liked the picture where it showed where there was vegetation from 2000 to 2010.

Climate Change Facts: Answers to Common Questions - 0 views

  •
Q and A with climate change facts! Good to quiz yourself with:) my favorite is: In the past, has Earth been warmer than it is today? If so, does that mean we shouldn't worry about global warming?
  •
NASA (National Aeronautics Space Administration) and NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) agree that climate change is happening and humans are contributing to it. Many people agree in the United States of America and abroad. MAny believe it is because of greenhouse gases from humans. Scientists are trying to answer some very important questions such as how quickly will the world warm, and what consequences will that have on certain parts of the world. The global temperature average has risen by 1.4 degrees Fahrenheit over the last 100 years. NOAA said that the decade between 2000-2010 was the warmest decade on record. 2005 was the warmest year on record. There have been more intense rainfall and severe heat waves. Sea levels are rising. The Earth does go through warming and cooling because of factors such as sun and volcanic activity. The warming and cooling is partly natural and partly because of humans. The sun's energy has fluctuated but is small in comparison compared to human's effect. The warming is consistent with what happens with heat trapping carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide can lead to climate changes that can hurt plants, animals, and people. For every 2 degrees Fahrenheit raise 5-15% reductions in crops. 3-10% increase in rain which would create flooding. 5-10% increase in stream flow. 200-400% increase in wildfires in the western United States. Scientists predict that the temperature will rise 2-12 degrees Fahrenheit by 2100. It is not too late too fix climate change!

I thought it was very interesting that Earth's temperature depends on the balance between energy entering and leaving the planet's system. I didn't know that was what balances Earth's temperature!

China, India, and Climate Change Take the Lead - 2 views

    Check it out, y'all
  •
Although emerging markets are a very large portion of the problem, they are necessary for any solution. Most books that talk about the environment has the West as the starting point. This is a very understandable starting place. For many decades the United States of America has been the largest polluter, contributing to the problem more than any other country in the world. Europe, has environmental laws to negotiate new and different solutions. Now Europe and the United States of America are only in supporting roles. Now the leaders are China and India. China emites nearly half of current global emissions. India accounted for 83% of the worldwide increase of carbon emissions from the years 2000-2011. Global warming started with industrialized countries. But, it can only end with developing ones. India and China are fully engrossed in growth of the countries. To continue to feed this growth they are building more and more coal-fired power stations, which is a very bad form of energy. The cities in China and India fume smoke and the rivers are catching on fire. Global warming will effect developing countries very much more then rich ones. A little bit because tropical and sub tropical areas are much more sensitive to warming and cooling temperatures. Richer areas can pay for better flood control and drought-resistent seeds that poor countries. William Cline, an economist, estimated a rise of merely 2.5% in temperature wold cause a 6% decrees in agriculture productivity in the United States of America. but in India there would be a 38% decrees. China and India are very vulnerable. New economic giants (such as China and India) will have to push rich countries to make more environmental compromises. Messrs Mattoo and Submaranian estimate that if China and India want to cut their carbon emissions by 30% in 2020, their production rate would fall 6-7% and the manufactured exports would be effected much more than that. Poor countries cannot handle the issues as well.

I feel that the website is very interesting and cool. It would be a little weird to turn a dead relative into a diamond but it is very cool.
  •
I think this is creepy. But kind of important to what we are doing
  •
It's website showed you how to turn ashes into diamonds and jewelry. Very wierd
  •
This is really, really weird and disturbing but it has to do with creating rocks.
  •
    That's a weird subject
  •
This is really weird and awkward
  •
    This is disgusting and weird
  •
Had nothing to do with unit
  •
This seems rather disturbing. It is an interesting idea though.
  •
This is cool and talks about the rock cycle but does not relate to ancient Denvers.
  •
    That's just messed up
  •
At first I was confused but, then I read keep your dead ones close and that was wierd.
  •
This does not relate much to ancient Denver's, but it is creepy and interesting. Does this mean that you. Can run a dead human ashes into a diamond?
  •
Amazing! I would love to see the process of that!
  •
I don't exactly understand how this relates to our studies
  •
This is irrelevant to our unit, but very interesting and disturbing.
  •
I would like to see the process in the making to see what they do.
  •
That's kind of dark and creepy and shows what some businesses actually sell.
  •
That is really weird, but I guess it makes sense if people don't want to keep their loved ones in a box.
  •
That is freaky to turn someone into a diamond
  •
That's really cool that someone can become a diamond! A little creepy though...
  •
Creepy to turn a family member in to jewelry
  •
It is cool how they make them. But very strange to turn someone into a diamond
  •
very cool website not to much information though
  •
It is interesting how they can make ashes into diamonds! I wonder who thought of this idea.
  •
This is amazing that something like this could happen with heat and pressure. There is not enough information.
  •
Well now I know how to make dead people into a diamond
  •
This does not give very much info and is irrelevant
  •
It is so cool that you can turn ashes into diamonds.
  •
The process of making these must take a lot of heat and pressure. It's amazing that you can turn worthless ashes into really awesome diamonds that could be worth a lot of money.
  •
If we can now change ash into diamonds then why would the price of diamonds be so expensive.
  •
My question is why would you want to change your grandma into a diamond? This had some things to do with what we are studying.
  •
This website is not very helpful unless you are looking to turn someone into a diamond.
  •
I think that it is crazy that the temperature has to go up to 5,000 degrees Fahrenheit! Then the carbon turns into graphite. This process takes a few weeks. I think that it's very cool that you can turn ashes into diamonds.
  •
This is really interesting how cremations can turn into diamonds with very high pressure and heat but I don't think this is really relevant to our unite. If you get one you can always keep your grandma close to your heart...literally.

I can't believe you can make a diamond out of a relative with pressure and 5,000 degrees fahrenheit.
  •
It truly does amaze me how this is done but if the people make one mistake, the diamond is worth nothing. You also don't get the cremations you gave in the diamond you get.
  •
It shows the process of ashes being turned in to dimands.
  •
This is a great website to see how ashes are turned into diamonds
  •
It's a really interesting website that has everything from how they are made to why you should make your relative into a diamond. Also the pressure to about 800,000 pounds per square inch which I thought was pretty interesting.
  •
They will make a diamonds out of any ash that you want.
  •
That's really interesting! How do they create a diamond so fast?
  •
Synthetic diamonds are used for industrial purposes and are not worth a lot until they are cut. It is the complexity of the cut that gives it value. Industrial diamonds are used to sharpen blades for cooking and surgery industrial diamonds are in chainsaws to make a better saw, and synthetic diamonds are used in cutting other diamonds.
  •
To make a diamond out of ashes, you have to heat it up to over 5,000 degrees!
  •
It takes a while or the diamond to be made and a lot of pressure.
  •
This website showed how ashes can be turned into diamonds.
  •
I think that it is crazy that the temperature has to go up to 5,000 degrees Fahrenheit! Then the carbon turns to graphite and that takes a few weeks to do I think that it is crazy that you can turn ashes into diamonds!

Climate Change - 1 views

This website is created especially for kids by EPA. On the home page, you can choose to read about climate change in any one region in the US. This page gives you detailed information about each region through maps, other pictures, and text. The website states that in the northern part of the Great Planes, average winter temperatures have increased by as much as 7 degrees. It also states that as of 2085, precipitation in the northern Great Planes may increase by as much as 40% and may decrease by that much in the South (including Colorado)! Yet another upsetting fact is that water is expected to become a major problem in this region, with the water supply in the Ogallala aquifer, the Great Planes main source of water, decreasing, while the population and heat are increasing rapidly.

This website is all about climate change in Denver. It talks about how different temperature changes can effect our water supply from the mountains. A 2 to 5 degree Fahrenheit increase in temp. could cause a 7 to 14% decline in water supply yield. It talks about how we are fixing the damage of climate change and global warming. Also it talks about the Denver climate change adaptation plan. This is a very good and detailed website.

This is a very good site about causes of climate change and what is happening.
  •
This website that I found gave good information about climate change, the affects of climate change, what causes climate change, and even how we can reduce our affect on climate change. The website says that the rise in average temperatures can cause major shifts in climate and weather. The website shows that humans have created large amounts of greenhouse gases which include the gases I listed on blogger. The website also says that climate change can affect water supply, agraculture, power, transportation, natural envornment, and our health. Evidence from this website supports my idea on climate change on blogger. It does not support how climate change affects evolution.
  •
This web sight was really informational about the current issue of climate change. I agree completely about the issues of climate change; our human impact on has released so many gasses into the atmosphere that our world is gradually getting hotter and hotter each year. This web sight also stated that our actions can backfire too. If we do not change our impact on the climate earth could possible become not possible for humans to live on.

This is a news paper article about global warming and climate change.
  •
This website tells about the process of climate change, but it also tells about global warming. This is a good website to find facts about climate change and global warming. This website also tells about why 2012 was the hottest year in U.S. history. The map on the bottom of the page is very detailed. It shows a very detailed map about climate change and the global warming.
  •
This article includes many statistics about climate change all over the world, such as, global emissions jumped 3 percent in 2011 and are expected to jump another 2.6 percent in 2012. It also explains why 2012 was the hottest year ever recorded in US history. At the bottom of the page, there is a picture that you can click on that takes you too a map of heat across the US.
  •
The world reached a record high amount of carbon admissions in 2011 sending the amount of carbon in the air up 3 percent, and they are expected to rise another 2.5 percent by 2012, reports are showing that in the most advanced countries admissions amounts are gradually decreasing due to there efforts to reduce carbon admissions. Admissions continue to grow so rapidly that the world has set a goal of keeping the rise under 3.6. For many decades scientists have said they will do something but never have.
  •
This website has basic facets about climate change. I think it's very interesting it goes into how 2012 was one of the hottest years and why. It also talks about the controversy of global warming and shows arguments for both sides. Check it out!
  •
Gives good information on what sort of heat increases gain throughout the years.
  •
This website gives the statistical facts about global warming, such as carbon dioxide facts and all time highs. This article is highly fact based, explaining statistics as well. It also speaks of the U.S. and its increased temperatures in 2011.

NCAR research on climate change - 1 views

  •
This website describes what kind of research NCAR is doing and what they have been finding on the issue of climate change. It goes into detail about what the climate was like in the past, the climate in the future, and what the causes of climate change really is. The climate has been changing ever since the Earth began, even before humans, but modern weather measurements only go back to 100-150 years ago. We don't know what the climate of the Earth really was in the prehistoric times. The Earth is getting warmer. According to tests, the Earth's surface temperature has risen more than 1.33 degrees fahrenheit since the late 1800s. There is more about what is causing the climate to change and what the climate will look like in the future.

Why is the climate changing so much? - 1 views

  •
This websites provides excellent proof of the fact that global warming is real. In the last 650,000 years CO2 levels did not go over 300 ppm. However in recent times the ppm has sky rocketed to 390 ppm. I find it is also frightening that ten of the hottest years occurred in the last 12 years. Coldest records are not being reported as often as they used to be. The top 700 meters of the ocen has rose a frightening .3 degrees Fahrenheit seance 1969. The acidity of the ocean has also risen by 30%. This website backs up my ideas on climate change. I believe and so does NASA that global warming is happening now.

I also found this website and found it very interesting with a graph on the front. There were signs of only seven cycles of glaciers advancing and retreating in the past 650,000 years. Many of the earths satellites can now pick up on the earths changes big or small. The sea level has risen 6.7 inches in ten years and it may double that rate if the glaciers and polar ice caps keep melting.
  •
This website is very detailed, it has a graph and excellent proof of global warming.
  •
This link show you that global warming does make an effect on the earth. It tells you lots of good information. I was surprised that the earth has had its hottest temperatures in the last 12 years! There has been no coldest records in a long time.

EPA Future Climate Change - 1 views

  •
This is a really useful website about future climate change and what is expected to happen with global warming up until the year 2099. It has a bunch of helpful diagrams and written information as well.
  •
Climate change will have many affects of our world climate in the future. Rain pattern are expected to change drastically and that means that Colorado could have lots of rain and places like Maine would have arid climates. The Earths average temperature will rise, which isn't something new but this means that oceans will rise so much that they will flood islands and kost likeley the keys. Along with the increased sea level the Earth will get a higher pH in the oceans. Many areas that have used their climate to grow crops or do certain activities will face an impending change. Crops will die in places that turn cold. Melted snow runoff in the himilayas might flood village's. All of these changes depend upon the amount of greenhouse gases are admitted into the atmosphere. Natural features may play a role to. Say, a volcano eruption, could possibly speed up the process in said area of eruption. Overall many factors play into the climate change of the world and in the future bad consequences might come of the greenhouse gases that are going into the atmosphere. Reviewed by Tucker Hamilton
