Lily Dines on 05 Mar 13This website is created especially for kids by EPA. On the home page, you can choose to read about climate change in any one region in the US. This page gives you detailed information about each region through maps, other pictures, and text. The website states that in the northern part of the Great Planes, average winter temperatures have increased by as much as 7 degrees. It also states that as of 2085, precipitation in the northern Great Planes may increase by as much as 40% and may decrease by that much in the South (including Colorado)! Yet another upsetting fact is that water is expected to become a major problem in this region, with the water supply in the Ogallala aquifer, the Great Planes main source of water, decreasing, while the population and heat are increasing rapidly.
