Fun interactive sites for kids

Billions of bugs and other insects live on Planet Earth. How many kinds can you find? Go on a hunt for ants, butterflies, ladybugs and more. Record what you find, submit your data online, and discover where different kinds of insects live all over the United States.

Take a walk or look out the window to count trees around your home, school or neighborhood. How many have leaves or needles? Are there palm trees or cacti near you? Submit your data online and find out where plants like these grow from coast to coast.

Measure your ear, your foot and your height. Submit your measurements online and discover how they compare to other animals, including an armadillo, jackrabbit, tiger, gorilla, grizzly bear and giraffe. Where are you in the size lineup?

These could be fun mini-lessons for kids to do at computer rotations.

A school rewrote the Common Core Reading/ELA standards in kid-friendly language (see http://ilearntechnology.com/?p=4606 for full post with other grade levels).

I really like these, I think I will write them on sentence strips like you suggested.
