I referenced this site back when we were studying the expansion of voting rights. I found this page helpful in particular for learning more about the role women played in passing the Fourteenth Amendment, even though it did not give them the vote. This site in general also has a lot of useful information and suggestions.

I wish I had found this site back in September! I really like all of the resources laid out on this website, it's easy to navigate, and something I could imagine letting my students explore too. I especially had fun playing "Which Founder Are You?" Turns out I'm George Mason.

I stumbled upon this website while looking up the Bill of Rights. It's too young for me to use with the majority of my students, but I think it'd be great for fifth grade. It breaks down the Bill of Rights into accessible statements, and they look to have a whole series of pages for kids.

The history coordinator for Newton (Lucia Sullivan) emailed this article to us, and I wanted to share it here with all of you. It's a great perspective on how we, as historians, must work hard to present as essays as history teachers. He talks about how to frame content, essays, and primary source evidence in a meaningful way that is accessible for all students. Given the topics brought up by this course, it seemed fairly germane.

This website provides a great breakdown of the Constitution in kid-friendly language. It can be a great resource for lower achieving students who are trying to tackle the often complex language of the document.

This website is great, because it sorts court cases by topic/amendment addressed. Also, because it's from the ACLU, all of the issues revolve around people's rights in a concrete way, which makes it accessible for students.

This is a lesson plan that focuses on freedom of religion, specifically as it pertains to school prayer in the case of Engel v. Vitale (1962). It looks like a case in which students can really invest themselves, and has additional cases to build off of in extension opportunities.

I found this link based off of my previous link of Washington's letter to the Jews of Newport. This is a collection of 50 critical primary sources that trace America's growth from the Declaration through the 1980s. It's interesting to see their choices of documents to include, and the story it tells of American history.
