      The Antidote to Dis-Stress Jesus came that his Followers who trust in Him may live in 'permanent peace'. In John 14: 26-28 here, read how that promise was fulfilled. Peace can has been defined many ways. In John 14:27, Yeshua (Jesus) states clearly that, ultimately, peace is a Person, God Himself living in each Jesus Follower.

      The Art of Not Being Offended The word "offend" in the New Testament means to trip, stumble, or fall away. Frank Viola, a Christian author and teacher uses the word here with a specific connotation. Being offended is to get so upset with someone that you hold a grudge against them or retaliate actively or passively. Hurt feelings aren't the same as being offended. Mr. Viola says: "Too often, Christians choose to be offended when their feelings get hurt. Christians are the most easily offended people in the world. We should be the least." gfp (2012-03-13)

      Like the writer I suspect, I've totally bought into and trust Matthew 6:25-34 regarding how I work. I eschew frenzy and workaholism for revenue. Jesus has never once failed to keep His promise to meet ALL my family's needs since I committed to work only for Him in 1984 ...despite a sometimes bumpy road, since. Our wants, on the other hand ...not s omuch as we would have liked, though! As the expression from the depression goes: "Karen & I have everything we need except enough cash!"

      God's Incredible & Unfathomable Love For All Wo(men) Romans 8:29-30, in the context of the entire passage of verses 28-39, is the New Covenant's clearest statement of what theologians call the "Doctrine of Predestination". I will outline one position on this controversial and emotionally-charged word below. Predestination is a highly contentious word both inside and outside the organizational church. This contention flows almost completely from how one defines the word. The promise tucked inside of verse 28 is also a fantastic one as I note in the e-Sticky Note on that verse. Your heavenly Father starts by telling you how He handles it when we screw up. Then finally nearer the end of the passage, God explains, using an incredible metaphor, how much He loves all humankind, irrespective of their current state of "election", and without us having to earn His love in any way, shape or form. gfp (2012- 05-05 )

This is God's promise here regardless of his/her character, or sin, or current level of their conformity to Jesus' image. The fantastic promises regarding the breadth, depth and height of God's unfailing and unending love for us, outlined in verses 32-39 below, are NOT dependent on our loving God or even seeking Him, first.

      My problem with Rhoberta's psychology when she points to "understanding" the roots of anger/rage as a route to healing is that it cannot produce freedom from your bondage. (I know this because I knew the emotional and spiritual roots of my rage for the full 25 years that I struggled with my it and that understanding didn't help me one bit. Only knowing "truth" can set you free. Understanding our past pain's roots doesn't produce truth or "freedom" from the pain. Only the truth that Jesus talks about at http://is.gd/NwDqOu can do that. gfp

    Anger is one of the most powerful emotions and the most challenging one to manage for most people. Some of us can't "manage" it ...at all. At best, some of us can ONLY moderate our reaction to our amygdala's response to our perception of a violation of our so-called rights. That's why Essential #1 is so crucial. (I know because I fought a losing battle with anger/rage for over 25 years until recently when I re-discovered a truth that I had forgotten as a Jesus Follower. Yeh! We're NOT perfect ...just saved as someone said.)     I Corinthians 10:13 (MSG Paraphrase) explains exactly why Jesus Followers can defeat the F-E-A-R that trails, tribulations and temptations bring. And when you're not experiencing a dangerous emotional, phyisical or spiritual threat, F-E-A-R usually means False-Evidence-Appearing-Real! When you do experience F-E-A-R, you are promised in this Scripture verse that you CAN defeat it by means of another F-E-A-R ...in Christ (Face-Everything-And-Recover, in Him). gfp (2011-09-17)
