How people multi-task with technology

What did the study find? How many people were in the study and from where did these people originate? Are there any conflicting studies?

There was a study done to see how many people use their smartphone while watching television. In the US there are 40% who do so on a daily basis, compared to as 12% of tablet users and 13% of smartphone owners say they have never done so. 45% search unrelated info on the web, 42% are checking social networking sites, and fewer than 20% are searching related ads they've seen on TV. While, I just researched some more related to this topic, I came to realize this results are correct and accurate.

Wireless technology has evolved. At first, the goal was to expedite the communications between humans. Now, however, the new wave  of wireless technology focuses on machine-to-machine(M2M) interactions. "The M2M phenomenon is part of the larger drive to create an "Internet of Things" - a global network that not only links computers, tablets and phones but that connects everything from bikes to washing machines to thermostats. Machina Research, a British firm, believes there will be 12.5 billion "smart" connected devices, excluding  phones, PCs and tablets, in the world in 2020, up from 1.3 billion today."

Google plans to release their own tablet, similar to the iPad.

This survey shows that iPad with the $199 price tag is a 'serious" contender for the ipad. I had someone ask me about Kindle fire vs. iPad. Definitely people are comparing it.  Many people are definitely comparing the ipad to the Kindle fire although the Kindle fire has two issues that don't have anything to do with Amazon: the droid OS and the Droid app store. The droid OS still lacks in touch responsiveness from the reviews I read. The Droid app store is a lot more open but also includes more "junk" and even some privacy and virus laden things from what I hear. Does this matter to the average person who just wants a smaller device and a $199 price tag - we'll see. Tablets are definitely in our future. You can see the redesign of women's pocketbooks reflecting this!

This article talks about how software for phones, computers, and tablets is becoming more centralized and organized. Microsoft is trying to progress its software into the mobile world while other companies like Apple are trying to provide a consistent, well organized and accepted OS.

"Lee Rainie, Director of the Pew Research Center's Internet & American Life Project, spoke about "As learning goes mobile" at the Educause 2011 annual conference. He described the Project's latest findings about how people (especially young adults) use mobile devices, including smartphones and tablet computers. The anonymity provided by the ability to surf and search a large number of documents provides a temptation to use material in an unauthorized way. This temptation must be avoided. The same browsing tools that allow wide access also provide a tool for proper attribution. The writer may simply insert a link (URL) to direct the reader to the source of the information cited. Privacy should be safeguarded and observed. Those who control their own information should establish systems to keep information that they do not want disclosed protected. Owners of
