Pierre Levy, an expert on collective intelligence, is interviewed in this video by Howard Rheingold. He explains that he views collective intelligence is a combination of filtering the knowledge stream and signaling to others via hyperlinks the value of your messages in the knowledge stream. Notice his words->"you are organizing the memory for others". This is exactly what you are doing in this project with tags and later with your wiki research followed by your videos - you are librarians !

More About Health 2.0 - 0 views

  •
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Health 2.0 (as well as the closely related concept of Medicine 2.0[1]) are terms representing the possibilities between health care, eHealth and Web 2.0, and has come into use after a recent spate of articles in newspapers, and by Physicians and Medical Librarians.[2][3] A concise definition of Health 2.0 is the use of a specific set of Web tools (blogs, Podcasts, tagging, search, wikis, etc) by actors in health care including doctors, patients, and scientists, using principles of open source and generation of content by users, and the power of networks in order to personalize health care, collaborate, and promote health education.[4] A possible explanation for the reason that Health has generated its own "2.0" term are its applications across health care in general, and in particular it potential in public health promotion.

Netflix's Real Problem | The Wrap Media - 0 views

  • Netflix's problem is that it fundamentally has little leverage with the studios
  • doubling its price
  • To ensure Netflix's survival, CEO and Co-Founder Reed Hastings ultimately has two  options: he must make Netflix a content player in its own right - something he's attempting to do by reportedly paying more than $100 million for Netflix's first original TV series, The David Finch/Kevin Spacey thriller "House of Cards". Or he can merge with a player that guarantees him distribution such as Hulu, Google, Amazon, or Dish, which has its own content-streaming network built from satellite business and the ruins of the Blockbuster video chain.

if they dont have high speed internet they cant see and responded to what the goverment is doing! "Technology's ability to meet the needs of both citizens and government is obvious. However, with varying degrees of citizen capacity and resources, which technologies are best suited? Will citizens without high-speed access to the internet ultimately have less ability to engage with government or partake in its services? How do we address the access and knowledge divide?"

Workflow Blog - 0 views

  • Much of what we do in the BPM/Workflow space has to due with bridging the gap between business silos within organizations. All businesses of a certain size have them, and in the majority of cases they contribute to inefficiency. However since all businesses have them, are business silos not always a bad thing. Therefore what should you look for to determine when bridging a silo is just, a bridge to far.

What's the Difference Between Workflow and BPM? « Workflow Blog - 0 views

  • Workflow is concerned with the application-specific sequencing of activities via predefined instruction sets, involving either or both automated procedures (software-based) and manual activities (people work)…BPM is concerned with the definition, execution and management of business processes defined independently of any single application.  BPM is a superset of workflow, further differentiated by the ability to coordinate activities across multiple applications with fine grain control.

Silos come into being for a number of reasons like: companies or generally hierarchical in nature, they may have had mergers and acquisitions, poor planning or just different requirements. Sometimes silos are formed instantly but generally they form over a period of time.

government and politics - 1 views

  • "The Federal government made it illegal to sell them." So much for price and the market regulating the purchase of water — not to mention the seeming reverse correlation between water pressure and time spent in the shower. I don't like this kind of government. It's busy-bodying and dumb.
