I was on facebook today and noticed a sponsor story button. Apparently, for $7 you can get a status or pic "sponsored", and they will appear more frequently on people's news feeds. 

Circa has created a new news app that will screw up journalism. As a story surfaces, the app updates the story from multiple sources found on the internet. Instead of reading one article, one will just read updates as they come about.

This is an example of Jenkins convergence culture in the fact that it allows someone who may not have let the world know about his life, reveal his story that has now touched many people. As Jenkins says, "every important story gets told." Also, this is another way that Ben Breedlove was able to have social connections. He made more than this one video in which he gave relationship advice to his peers but this video was his last before his heart stopped. This was one video I thought of as I read that article.

Crazy stories about Congressman being bought in order to get jobs after their terms. People who buy them are basically in control of the Congressman.

I've been noticing people posting this copyright post on their walls, and this story explains that whole situation.

I think comedy skits and stand-up could be classified as remixes and mash-ups.  This one, for example, takes a bunch of random shout outs from the audience to make a story.  

I use Amazon's kindle e-reader online and, as it turns out, the some publishers inflated the price of their books. Since e-books are relatively new, it's hard to judge what the appropriate price for a story is when there is no manufacturing needed. Some exploit this gap in experience and are being brought to court.

This is a funny story about someone's Siri not knowing about Hurricane Sandy. It's kind of stresses the lesson to not rely on a single piece technology so much.

We are looking for good storytelling (fiction or non-fiction) written specifically for delivery and reading/viewing on a PC or Mac, the web, or a hand-held device such as an iPad or mobile phone. It could be a short story, novel, documentary or poem using words, images, film or animation with audience interaction. We are looking for creativity, so try to be imaginative to create an engaging story i.e. combining any number of media elements, such as words on a screen combined with images and video clips. New media writing can be created using a variety of tools i.e. a word processor, DV camera, social networking tools (i.e. Twitter), mobile phone/s, a scanner - anything goes!

I think auto-tuning is an interesting way to remix a conversation into a song...such as when Kristen Bell went onto Ellen and told her about her love of sloths. This was a really funny interview, but the way they have edited the footage and auto-tuned Ellen and Kristen makes it only more hilarious!

The song is hilarious, but the original video is EASILY the funniest thing I've ever seen on the internet. I do not remember a video that I have honestly ever enjoyed more.

I think this is a pretty cool writing/reading assignment for young kids!  It also gives really easy instructions for how to make a good writing remix.

More examples of "remixed" products and stories. These examples totally support the arguement that America is all about the litigious pay day. Just like Disney, we can steal ideas but how dare anyone steal our remake of them!

It says its from 2003 but I have a hard time believing that. This is an unintentionally hilarious, supremely 80's documentary about collaboration in the music industry. Its pre-mainstream remix, but I still think it could be relevant.

Was trying to find this article that was on Yahoo! a year or so ago and stumbled on this... thought it was at least worth bookmarking. And made me wonder how they decide who to pursue for cases because some people openly admit in articles that they download/own music illegally and don't face any legal consequences. but a 12-yr-old?
