It says its from 2003 but I have a hard time believing that. This is an unintentionally hilarious, supremely 80's documentary about collaboration in the music industry. Its pre-mainstream remix, but I still think it could be relevant.
This article talks about the copyright issues of mash-ups and songs in Glee. It's an interesting and brief article, but if you have time you should check out the comments section.
this is a super duper interesting and relevant article. thanks!
"The absence of any mention of copyright law in Glee illustrates a painful tension in American culture. While copyright holders assert that copyright violators are "stealing" their "property," people everywhere are remixing and recreating artistic works for the very same reasons the Glee kids do - to learn about themselves, to become better musicians, to build relationships with friends, and to pay homage to the artists who came before them."
My dad called this remix "a coat of lipstick." I really like it for its simplicity. I think it's kind of a perfection of the song. But I can see how such minor changes can be considered really uncreative or, worse, just stealing.
