Beyond batteries: laptops to be powered by solar power, micro fuel cells - 2 views

  •
This article describes a new innovation in laptop that will catch the attention of many. We are all becoming more conscious of the effect our actions have towards the environment and this advancement will help us be more environmentally friendly. The flexibility of this power source is also a bonus. The only down side to this technology is that it will cost a little more but in the end will we save much more than just a few dollars.

This article is about how many batteries will soon be solar powered and use micro fuel cells. This is an environmentally friendly way to use technology since more and more people are aware of the ecological foot print they have made. Solar power seems to be the better choice because you could use it anywhere as long as there's the sun and it's free. Although there are cons to solar powered technology, you will not be able to use it indoor and/or evening hours. You can use micro fuel cells anytime but, are very pricey. I think this new way of using technology will have a long term effect but it will still benefit us in a positive way.

6 Tips for Better Mobile Security - eSecurity Planet - 0 views

  •
I learned from this article how to secure your information on your mobile device using 6 simple tips. Setting a solid password, installing antivirus or security apps, and using encryption, a hardware security system, are just a few various methods of how to help and improve the security on the everyday use of your phone. Mobile security is important especially if you have a lot of important and valuable data and information, such as passwords or your email is accessible, you want to know that this information is stored and saved safely on your mobile device for no one but yourself to be able to use. With technology evolving and more and more people are being familiar and learning about hacking and breaking into systems, it is more important and necessary than ever in our society for everyone to have their information secured. Taking your mobile device's security seriously and keeping it at high maintenance is crucial so nobody can hack or see what information is important to you but also so that you aren't giving people the opportunity to rearrange or change this data that you trust that you are the only person to see and alter your personal data at your leisure.

iPhone 5: The wait is over - CNN.com - 0 views

  •
Recently the new iPhone 5 came out in stores and thousands of people are lining to get one all over the world. According to this article thousands of Apple's iconic smartphone endured long overnight lines outside Apple retail stores around the world to be among the first Friday to buy the new iPhone 5. My opinion on the iPhone 5 is that you can do anything, but it is not worth that type of money right now because the iPhone 4s just recently came out and the iPhone 5 is basically like the same as the iPhone 4s but different design. Instead of buying the iPhone 5 you can wait a couple of years to buy the upcoming iPhone because Apple comes up with a new phone each year.

Australians Surge in Quest to Build Quantum Computer - NYTimes.com - 0 views

  •
This article talks about a new development in computing technology. So far we have relied on the basic computer who's most basic functions are base on binary logic in the in state of "on" and "off". This new development is referred to as "quantum computing". In quantum computing instead of using "on" and "off" states ; qubits are used. Qubits are a form of matter/energy which is part of quantum physics. The trick here is that qubits can represent multiple states at once and therefore far less of them are needed, and many new types of problems can be solved. There is a drawback however, and it is that qubits can only stay in their form for a set period of time, and they must also be at a temperature of 0 degrees Celsius or lower. Overall quantum computing is a great idea as it allows for things such as modeling atoms, and seeing how they will react. It will be a huge breakthrough in science, and will allow the modeling and creation of new atoms, chemical reactions, and even living beings, but it is not something you will be using day to day, such as your computer. To conclude, I think that this is an amazing development but i believe that it is more science centered rather than day-to-day life.

Webmaster 2014 - TopTenREVIEWS - 0 views

  •
My topic for careers would be the job of a web master. This article shows the average salary of a web master and what they do. I will be very brief. A web master manages day-to-day functions of a website, while being knowledgeable in the field of programming and software. Web Masters are also usually in charge of advertisements and minor monetization of the website they are controlling. They decide the types of ads, and the placement of the ads of their choice. The article rates this job a 6.7/10 due to a very low salary for the amount of work being done. I believe a webmaster would not a be a job that I would like. In my opinion I think I would not make a sufficient amount of money that could provide a living.

Here's the real reason Flappy Bird was removed - 0 views

  •
This article gives the real reason why the very popular app "Flappy Bird" was taken down. The creator of the game, Dong Nguyen, took down the game because of its addictiveness. For this reason, he was convinced to remove it. This app is not coming back. Dong's intention was to make this game for playing when you are relaxed. Unfortunately, this game turned out making everybody angry and caused many people to scream their heads off. Also, he received treats from Nintendo, because of the use of Nintendo's pipes and character. Dong said in an interview "my life is not as comfortable as before". Also, the app caused sleep deprivation for him. Many people still have the game on their smartphone and play the very addictive rage inducing game.

Google has been keeping quiet about their latest tech, but a leak has hinted toward a google smart watch with certain features that will compel you to purchase the new wave of wearable tech. The google watch will allow you to get ambient notifications between your phone and watch through Blue tooth LE. This connectivity will allow you to awnser calls, and see who is texting you. The watch will take a "Pebble" like design, but it will have a less masculine plastic wristband instead. The watch though, will either be released with less features or fully released at a later date due to time constraints. In my opinion, wearable tech is interesting but I believe its still in a beta-phase due to the fact of limited battery life and actual applicable features in real life.

Fixed: an app to help you fight parking tickets - Boing Boing - 0 views

  •
There is a now an IOS app that lets you fight in-justifiable parking tickets. This app is called fixed. Fixed is a service that will help you fight traffic tickets. You will be given a traffic ticket advocate to help fight for you, and give you your odds on winning your ticket. This service will charge you 25% the ticket if it becomes dismissed. I personally believe this app is genius. It is just another example of how simple applications will slowly help us in our every day lives.

iPhone 6 Hardware Specs Rumor Roundup - Tom's Hardware - 0 views

  •
So the Mobile World Congress is just around the corner and Apple has chosen to stay out of it and have its own exclusive events. Apple has done this to make sure that way Apple news will not get lost in the flood of other announcements. So far Apple has not announced anything yet they do traditionally announce new phones at the WWDC in June. As for the actual iphone 6 Tim Cook confirmed while speaking with ABC that the iphone 6 is going to have a sapphire display by using the company's new Arizona plant. The sapphire display is pretty much just a clear screen. Which I find can be pretty cool but I'm sure it has its disadvantages. But the sapphire display is very strong and quite resistant to scratches so thats great. Though they have not announced very much about the iphone 6 it does sound promising.

Gadget Keeps Your Paper Planes in the Air-and Lets You Pilot Them - 2 views

  •
This article is about a special designed PAPER airplane set to release in June of this year, called PowerUp 3.0. It is a paper plane that you can fold yourself and can be controlled by an iOS or Android device. The product itself is just a thin metal wire which clips onto the top of the paper plane with a Bluetooth module on one end and a propeller on the other. You just have to throw the paper airplane and once its in the air, you then can control it with your phone. The app is free, and is similar to a flight simulator, in which you can control the plane to go up and down, or left and right by tilting your phone. The paper airplane is crash-proof, and is run by a USB rechargeable battery. It costs $50 and it comes with a spare propeller and rudder. I think this a very creative, and great product because you are taking something basic like a paper airplane, and turning it into an amazing piece of technology, and a magical RC Vehicle.

Google is making a smart contact lens for people with diabetes so they know their blood pressure and level of sugar in their blood. I think this will be a new innovation and this will change the way we look at technology. This is a new level of technology.

Crovitz: The U.N.'s Internet Sneak Attack - WSJ.com - 0 views

  •
Who is the internet run by? The answer to that would be 193 U.N. members. Surprisingly, countries are sort of blocked off when it deals with internet affairs. To gain more power, certain countries like China and Russia have lobbied an agency called the ITU (International Telecommunications Union). The ITU's goal right now is internet censorship. They feel they need to have more control, and are threatening it's open, 'free to do whatever you want', nature. Next week, the ITU holds a negotiating conference in Dubai. They have already a proposed a 200 page treaty which makes some internet users worrisome. The ITU is trying to propose a tax on visiting popular websites like google, facebook, etc.. Google is against the idea already, and putting up petitions that show the need for net neutrality. Online users are counting on their own countries governments that they will not control the internet at the users will
