Unaware of this document written in December 1948, I can only assume it not being taught in our schools. This, The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, is a very powerful document outlining specific expectations for behavior of each human being the world over. Imagine how the world would be if EVERYONE knew the contents of their own declaration of human rights. Would it be utopia?
If this document was taught in all schools everywhere as it states; "to publicize the text of the Declaration and "to cause it to be disseminated, displayed, read and expounded principally in schools and other educational institutions, without distinction based on the political status of countries or territories" would this world be a better place for all? How would students of today accept this document? Would this be an effective tool to teach ESL, EFL, etc?
As a music teacher, we teach music, rythms, instruments and history of other countries. Music is a universal language. It crosses borders. It speaks to the core of individuals equally across the globe.
How about using MUSIC to teach ESL students?
