7:30pm|Documentary Film|Sunrise/Sunset (72mins) Dir. Vitay Manski Prod. Alexey Kucherenko. SUNRISE/SUNSET depicts nominal 24 hours spent by the film crew inside the residence of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, from the beginning of his day, which starts at 3 am, till sunset when the Buddhist leader goes to bed. Here, inside the residence, the documentary filmmaker, Vitali Manski, also got a chance to enjoy a totally informal conversation about the essence of the Universe and the role an individual has to play in religion in general and Buddhism in particular in the frameworks of contemporary society. This discussion is like a pitchfork for the enclosing part of the documentary, when the filmmakers are traveling back from India to Russia, through China. Quite surprisingly, the issues discussed with the Dalai Lama - overpopulation, a gap between rich and poor, ways to avoid global conflicts and wars get the vivid and convincing visual proof. Collab. Howl's Moving Castle [Japan][Blu-ray] - 0 views

  •
Product Details * Directors: Hayao Miyazaki * Language: English (Dolby Digital 5.1), French (Dolby Digital 5.1), Japanese (PCM) * Subtitles: Japanese, English, French, German, Italian, Korean, Chinese * Region: Region A/1 (Read more about DVD/Blu-ray formats.) * Aspect Ratio: 1.78:1 * Number of discs: 1 * Rated: G (General Audience) * Run Time: 119 minutes Though 'Howl's Moving Castle' ('Hauru-no Ugoku Shiro') may not be Miyazaki's best film, it is still far more enjoyable than many other films, Japanese or American, animated or not. I for one very much enjoyed watching it, and I love the film for its interesting characters and the rich textures of the designs, especially the fantasy world itself where witchcraft and humans' mundane works can be seen side by side. And the titular six-legged castle that really walks among the wilderness is something you never see except in his films. Miyazaki's new film is based on a book of the same title written by Diana Wynne Jones. The film's story is told from the viewpoint of a 18-year-old girl Sophie, who is working at a milliner's shop every day. But she can hear the sound of bloody battles from the distance, and it is clear that this beautiful country, where witches and wizards live among humans, is going to see another war sooner or later. But apparently Sophie is still leading an ordianary life until her uneventful routine days are suddenly broken by one accidental meeting with wicked 'Witch of the Waste,' who turns her into an old woman with a curse. Seeking for her place to live, Sophie goes to the wilderness where, the townspeople say, a young wizard named Howl wanders. In fact, Sophie encounters Howl's Moving Castle in the foggy moutainside, and she decides to hop in. There, forbidden to talk about her curse, she starts a new life with young and handsome Howl, who speaks to her kindly like a prince, but at times acts like a spoiled child. [MIYAZAKI'S LOVE ST

Getting Started with Firefox extension - Diigo help - 0 views

  •  Feature Highlight: Highlights Diigo saves the day with "highlights". Highlights let you select the important snippets on a page and store them in your library with the page's bookmark. Let's try it. Just open a page, maybe one of your old-school bookmarks or one of your new cat bookmarks, and find the information on that page you actually care about. Select that important text. Got it? Okay, now put your hemet on, 'cause this might blow your mind! Click the highlight icon on the Diigo toolbar. It's the one with the "T" on a page with a yellow highlighter. You will notice that the selected text gets a yellow background. This means that the text has been saved in your library, and as long as you have the Diigo add-on the text will be highlighted on the page! How's that for easy?   Now you've highlighted the text. It will appear in your library within the bookmark for the page it is on. Go to your library and you can see how it works. If you're not sure how to get to your library, just click the second icon on the toolbar (Diigo icon to the left of the search bar) and then select "My Library »".
  • Sticky Notes on the Web What? I can put a sticky note on a web page? How? Oh, that's right! Diigo. Just right-click anywhere on the page and choose to "add a floating sticky note". Type up your note and choose "Post", then move the note anywhere on the page. You have to type a note first, before you move it where you want, otherwise there's nothing to move!

First look of Henning Mankell's thriller - 0 views

  •
The Man from Beijing is a large-scale, global thriller. It describes and links events across time and space. A mass murder in Sweden in 2006. Chinese railroad workers in America in the 1860's. Chinese neo-colonialism in Africa. It is all here. And the dots are very properly connected in Mankell's grandiose plot.

The Actors Who Played The Joker - 0 views

  •
One of comic book superhero Batman's arch nemesis The Joker first appeared in the 1940 comic Batman #1 but he didn't appear on tv until 1966 in the Adam West version of Batman. Bob Kane, Bill Finger and Jerry Robinson were the co-creators of The Joker. However once again Bob Kane has a different story about The Joker's creations. The Joker was drawn to look like a photographer of Conrad Veidt as he was in The Man Who Laughs (1928) and the name came from the playing cards which Finger had brought in one day. The Joker has also gone by many other aliases, The Clown Prince of Crime, Red Hood, Jack, Joseph 'Joe' Kerr, Clem Rusty, Mr. Rekoj, Jack White. Be that as it may, let's have a look here at who's played comic book Supervillain The Joker over the years.Like Batman, The Joker will always be a work in progress, so check back from time to time to see what might be different or if there's a new Joker in the mist.
