Here I will discuss some of the most talented Indian classical dancers from the top cities in India- Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore, and Chennai.
1. Geeta Chandran- Geeta Chandran is an Indian classical dancer in Delhi. She learned Bharatanatyam since the age of three from great gurus. She is the founder-president of Natya-Vriksha in New Delhi. She has been performed in television, video and films, theatre, choreography, and dance issue journalism. She is known for her performance with gender issues like female feticide, marriage, and dowry, human trafficking and terrorism. Geeta Chandran has won many titles and awards like Natya Ratna given to her first teacher Swarna Saraswathy and Padmashri gave her by the Government.
2. Sharon Lowen- Sharon Lowen is an Indian classical dancer in New Delhi. It is a remarkable achievement for an artist from the U.S.A who first arrived in India in 1973 after pursuing her bachelor's and master's degree in Humanities, Fine arts dance from the University of Michigan. She is an international performing artist of three forms of Indian dance- Odissi, Chhau and Manipuri.
3. Vrunda Upadhyay- Vrunda Upadhyay is a talented Bharatanatyam dancer, teacher, choreographer, and singer for full potential. She is a Computer Engineer but she has a great passion for Bharatanatyam. She started her training at the age of 5 under the guidance of Guru Shri Kubernath Tanjorker, Guru Shri Ramesh Tanjorker and Guru Shri Leela Tanjorker from Vadodara, Gujrat. She has traveled across India and internationally throughout the US, Canada, UK, and Europe. She can be considered the most talented Indian classical dancer in Mumbai. Vrunda is honored with various awards, some of them are-
'Nritya Shivali' and 'Shivali Shreshth' by Shivali Culture Society.
'Satyabhama Award' by the Natraj Music and Dance Academy.
'Lasya Mohini Award' at Edapalli, Kerala.
4. Priyadarshini Nagarajan- Priaydarshini started her training in Bharatanatyam at the age of four under the guidance of Guru J.Suryanarayana. She has given many solos and group performance for institutions, schools, conferences and major temples all over Tamil Nadu. Her dance is so amazing that she won many prizes and awards. Best dancer award and Yuvashri Kala Bharati are two of them. She is running her own school name 'Natyapradarshini' for the past 8-9 years.
5. Kriti Ramgopal- Kriti Rampgopal is a very passionate Indian classical dancer in Bangalore. With her passion and intense training, she is acclaimed as one of the brightest talents in her generation. She began her training under Shrimati Padmini Ramachandran and has also mentored by Smt. Priyadarshini Govind. Her dance is described as vibrant, expressive. Due to her amazing performance, she got many awards, some of them are-
