The concept of fail-forward can be used as a teaching technique to motivate students to learn from their mistakes. For example, when students are allowed to re-work incorrect responses on a test for a partial grade they are failing-forward

Digital storytelling

This is a practical tool for ESL/EFL teachers who like working with videos. There are free video quizzes and resources that can be used with students of different levels of proficiency. Students can work on their own, as an assignment, and then send their results to the teacher (who has to be registered to the site to get the student's performance on the quiz). Another option the teacher has is to solve the quiz during class time with students jotting down their answers after watching the video. The teacher, then, checks the anwers with the whole class. There are all kinds of videos, from songs to reality shows and documentaries. I have never used this resource in my classes but I'm considering doing so. Has anybody out there who has already worked with it? Did you like it?

Wetoku is a web service or web 2.0 tool out of Korea that does one thing very well…it provides a simple platform for interviewing someone via the Internet. Collaborating globally is a must for our students and as result interviewing can be a challenge.
