While I have not double checked all of the facts behind what this list claims, the information surprised me and helped me with a research idea. I hope this helps someone else if they're looking at social media and marketing!
Woah I didn't realize that a majority of Twitters users were adults ages 35 to 49. It was mentioned that "This is not a teenage application; it's something adults use." I don't know many adults that use it besides celebrities.
I also thought that was interesting. Most of my friends use twitter but very few parents do. I was shocked that most twitter users are 35-49. I know my parents would never use twitter.
I was also shocked by this-- I work at the mall, and from all the middle/high school age conversations I hear, it appears that they are all on twitter. I have lost count of how many teen girls have been chatting with friends about what they "tweeted" and how it affected their lives. Although I do admit that these are only teenage girls that come to Dairy Queen/Orange Julius, so I'm sure that misses a huge chunk.
This article is interesting because it shows how Social Media is being used within a traditional religion. The article talks about a site, "Pope Alarm", where you can sign up to be promptly notified when the smoke turns white over the Vatican, signaling the selection of a new pope. It also talks about an "Adopt a Cardinal" website that acts as a prayer chain for candidates. For direct access to the Pope Alarm site, click:

Okay, this article is from October 2011, however, I still think it brings up important questions about freedom of speech/expression on social networking sites.
The National Labor Relations Board says workers have a right to discuss work conditions freely, whether the discussion takes place at the office or on social networking sites. They have ordered the rehiring of employees fired for their posts on social media.
This is a good resource for finding multimedia content that is available to use without needing to get someone's permission for their intellectual property
I've never heard of it, but it's been around since 2005. Why don't more educators know about this site? I love blogging, and this is ideal for an educational setting. Click the links on the top to bring you more information about them.
