Urban Dictionary: fanfiction - 0 views

So, While I've been trying to figure out what I'm going to do for my trailer- part of my search was "what is fan fiction?" I've decided that fan fiction is defined by people, not by a dictionary. So I needed a dictionary where people defined things- Urban Dictionary. Now, I find it interesting that there are a vast amount of definitions here- most of them give the same gist as to what Fan Fiction is but- some build up fan fiction and some trash it- just take a look!

A mashup artist that combines multiple songs to create each of his tracks. This is different than DJing. On average, he uses 21 songs for each one of his. His performances are featured in the documentary I posted earlier, "RIP: A Remix Manifesto". It's interesting to look at his music as a prime example of postmodernism and what that all means in terms of copyright infringement.

Obtaining knowledge with the internet - 0 views

  •
SelfGrowth.com is one of many websites that make it possible for someone to research specific skills or techniques, such as lie detection. I find it interesting that the internet makes obscure information readily available. Decades ago it would have been fairly difficult to find books related to lie detection, or many of the other topics listed on Selfgrowth.com.

What is Fanfiction? - 0 views

  • Technically, fanfiction is a violation of the author or production company's copyright, where one exists.
  • On the other hand, it is legal to use characters or places first described in works of fiction that are no longer protected by copyright, though these are often not considered fanfiction. Characters such as the Wicked Witch of the West from The Wizard of Oz, Huckleberry Finn, and Romeo and Juliet have all moved into the public domain,
  •
I'm not sure how credible this site is- my brother uses it quite a bit, but according to it, (look at the highlights) fan fiction is a violation of copyright.
