Although alt-ac is not exclusive digital humanities, or even exclusively humanities, the report on the #alt-ac panel for the Digital Humanities 2011 highlights some of the issues and questions relevant to the DH field. Some of the problems are personal in nature, such as the professional differences between#alt-ac and tenure, and others are more institutional, such as the issues with "credential creep." Although the article does not necessarily provide answers, it highlights many of the concerns alt-ac professionals have in pursuing their career.

This article about the 2011 Digital Humanities meeting highlights three big project announcements from that meeting. The first of these was a then new grant program: Digital Humanities Implementation Grants, a follow up to the Digital Humanities Start-Up Grant program. The second of these was a collection of alternative academic careers for humanities scholars titled #alt-academy. The last of these was the introduction of Press Forward, an initiative aiming to fuse traditional scholarly review with open-web filters.

This gesture helps students develop credibility in their specific subject areas which will eventually help them find jobs with their career field. The five subject areas being testing on this particular website is mostly pertaining to science and math. This is very useful for people who are looking to hire students who are qualified in those areas.

To prepare for a digital discussion Sean Morris gathered information containing education technology that shows new ways to communicate and new organizational tools. In the beginning of his teaching career him and a coworker created a paperless class that forced students to turn in assignments online; eventually turning it into a fully online course. Educational technology classrooms are created worldwide to use new modern ways to teach. Through online learning, students can use smaller parts to create a bigger picture which are then small parts for the collaboration of all the students work that is brought together. He leaves the readers with many questions about how to make the information accessible and accurate across the internet.

This website, ThinkingCulture, aims to exercise the cultural imagination. Figure/Ground conducts a series of interviews for the website, continued here with Miriam Posner. Miriam Posner teaches Digital Humanities at UCLA. The interview with Posner focuses on the her path into her academic post. Posner explains her struggles with tenure and her early career in academics. The interview continues on to discuss Posner's teaching, digital humanities work and her writing plans.
