I thought this website gave a good overview of how to write a fanfiction. Though it focuses mainly on Sailor Moon fanfics, it give a good explanation of what fanfiction entails.

Fanfiction about Harry Potter. This site is the oldest fanfiction for Harry Potter out there. "Founded in February 2001, we currently hold over 60,000 stories and receive, on average, over 30 million hits per month." That is a very impressive set of statistics.

This website is another of the "elite" Harry Potter fanfiction sites. It prides itself on not accepting "each and every" fanfic written.

General fanfiction information. This site gives an exhaustive look at the idea behind the practice of fanfiction. It talks about issues from history, to genres, to legality. As it is written as a wiki, it is easy to understand.

I spend a lot of time here, and would like to touch upon fanfic in my project. I'm looking to see if they have a specific disclaimer for the site. Individual authors cite the original author/s at the beginning/end of the new work.

This fan website provides an extensive forum for Twilight fans. It is interactive, allowing fans to post their own Twilight art, watch videos relating to the saga, explain why they like the books, and even track the site on Twitter. Interestingly, it provides a list of Twilight conventions, so fans can meet worldwide to talk about the books. This is important to my project because it helps me to further understand the fascination that fans have with the series. By exploring sites such as this, which also have fanfiction links, I can learn what ties the fans together and urges them to create their own Twilight remixes.

This website is a spinoff of another harry potter fanfic site (one that I have also bookmarked) that contains stories about specific characters.

This article might prove useful to those working on Fan Fiction. The beta readers are useful for another set of eyes on a particular work, though they are not always used. FanFiction.net does have betas for authors to contact, but does not automatically provide them. If they did, the quality of the site might be improved.
