Angry Wisconsin residents petitioned to have the election of their Governor Scott Walker recalled. The voters took up the petition after the Walker moved to strip away union rights.
The Wisconsin state Assembly has passed a bill that would take $3.5 million a year in federal grant money away from Planned Parenthood. The Republican-controlled Assembly passed the measure 60-35 Thursday with no Democratic support. It now heads to the Senate. Gov. Scott Walker has said he supports it.
In Zablocki v Redhail (1978), the Court struck down a Wisconsin law that required persons under obligations to pay support for the children of previous relationships to obtain permission of a court to marry. Depending on how people interpret laws, they might believe that they might have lost them but some other people are still satisfied by the fact that they still have some rights. I really like how she expressed her opinion and it really got me thinking onto how our rights might change in the future.
