Walker proposes spending more on mental health - 1 views

  •
The shooting which occurred in December which left 20 children and six educators dead at the hands of a gunman at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT has caused the issue of gun control as well as the issue of mental health to be looked at more closely. The President of the United States, Barack Obama chose to issue a proposal for stricter gun control measures, due to this. Walker, as well as several other Republicans agree that the main focus should be on the issue of providing mental health services to those in need prior to violent events taking place.

Law Will Allow Employers to Fire Women for Using Whore Pills - 1 views

  •
A proposed new law in Arizona would give employers the power to request that women being prescribed birth control pills provide proof that they're using it for non-sexual reasons. And because Arizona's an at-will employment state, that means that bosses critical of their female employees' sex lives could fire them as a result. I like that this article gets down to the nit and grit of what an outlandish claim everyone is making against birth control. This article is explaining how invasive this policy is to allow employers to decide on whether to provide insurance for birth control.
  •
This proposed bill actually says that an employer can ask to see a doctors note saying that the woman is perscribed birth control, but has to be for other reasons than not wanting to get pregnant.

Ban on Happy Meals with Toys - 0 views

This law was proposed in order to fight childhood obesity. It was vetoed, however. This is such a close argument I can see one going either direction, but it is a private company so they do have the right to regulate their own menu. Parents also have the right to make smart decisions.

Medical Marijuana has been studied to fight cancer cells and make those in too much pain to be comfortable. Why shouldn't this be legal? Plus, kids on the street on going to use it anyway, why not be able to control it? It would be easier to moderate that way.

Europes Privacy Laws and How It Will Impact U.S. Companies - 0 views

  •
How the European Union (EU) decides to move forward with their online privacy laws in regard to personal information, will greatly impact how the U.S. proceeds with theirs. The "economic partnership" between the two nations are so heavily intertwined, that legislations across seas will impact U.S. companies. The EU has implemented legislations protecting the rights of online customers. Meanwhile, in the U.S., companies have been reluctant to work with the government in providing U.S. online customers the same protection, because the majority of their profits stem from online advertising. These advertisements work so well because companies have been able to track consumer activities and in turn cater to them according to their habits. Implement government regulations that prevent big companies from doing that and their profits will plummet.
