America as a Religious Refuge: The Seventeenth Century, Part 1 - Religion and the Found... - 0 views

  •
(Original) "The religious persecution that drove settlers from Europe to the British North American colonies sprang from the conviction, held by Protestants and Catholics alike, that uniformity of religion must exist in any given society. This conviction rested on the belief that there was one true religion and that it was the duty of the civil authorities to impose it, forcibly if necessary, in the interest of saving the souls of all citizens" (Paraphrased) Fleeing the oppression of a state sponsored religion, both Protestant and Catholic, those souls who risked everything to cross the Atlantic came to the American Colonies with the express purpose to be able to practice their religious beliefs as they saw fit without the forced philosophies of a government sponsored religion being forced upon them.

What are "Stand Your Ground" Laws? - 0 views

  •
The Stand Your Ground Laws provide the right to self protection in the event of emergencies. This set of laws provides security to individual citizens seeking protection for themselves and their loved ones;while providing an outlet to the would-be criminal persecution that ensues following a controversial arms related incident. The victim in question will be protected from criminal persecution under theses laws, and the perpetrator will be tried and treated as such. States lacking in these laws require citizens to be subject to deadly force and simply hope for the best when faced against criminal/ harmful actions on their own property.

Gay marriage won. Now comes the hard part: Protecting religious freedom. - 0 views

  •
Friday's Supreme Court decision declaring gay marriage a constitutional right doesn't seem to have inspired much ambivalence among politically informed Americans. Either it's a glorious triumph for equality and an irrefutable demonstration that the arc of history does indeed bend toward justice - or else it's a galling example of judicial overreach, the end of public Christianity in America, and the start of an era that will be marked by unprecedented persecution of traditionalist Christians.
