This came up in the discussion. It's an interesting topic, but very narrow for our scope unless this is happening elsewhere in the country.

  •
Arizona's new immigration law signed into effect by Gov. Jan Brewer. Will all dark skinned people with Latino/Mexican/Hispanic features have to carry proof of citizenship for fear of being stopped? That notion paints a scary picture and it comes down to where law enforcement offciers will draw the line.

Immigration and what may happen - 0 views

I love the New York Times, again this article is very imformative, it give information on illegal immigration. Somethings the article talks about is Mexican Immigration has declined, and if a illegal is caught speeding should they deported and a little bit about the background of illegal immigration.

The New Times really points out some great facts in this article. They show that immigration is a important issue that is going on with the U.S. today. It also shows how different things can be for immigrants depending on who is the new elected president. While Mitt Romney is taking the side that may be harder on illegal immigrants, Obama seems to welcoming people to run across the boarder. Michal Czerwonka for The New York Times may be more of a photographer than a writer but he really did a great job showing both sides views.

Racial Profiling - 0 views

This article outlines racial profiling and how it is a violation of fundamental principals of our constitution. It's targeting brown mexican/hispanics because of the illegal immigration; and the arab americans because of 911. We all have a right to live our lives in peace without having authorites watching us because of our physical features.

Ranchers Alarmed by Killing Near Border - 0 views

  • Robert N. Krentz Jr., 58, the scion of one of the best-known and oldest ranching families here in southeast Arizona, was found shot to death March 27 on his vast, remote ranch north of here after radioing to his brother that he was aiding someone he believed to be an illegal immigrant. Mr. Krentz went missing shortly after that call, and the police found his body several hours later in his all-terrain vehicle, his guns untouched in the back, his dog shot and critically wounded. Fresh footprints led from the scene to the Mexican border 20 miles away. Given Mr. Krentz’s radio transmission, the footprints and heavy drug and illegal immigrant trafficking in that area, investigators are working on the assumption that he encountered a smuggler, possibly heading back to Mexico.

This NY Times article looks into the murder of Robert Krentz, the Arizona farmer, who was shot to death in Cochise County. Clues led to the possibility that it may have been an illegal alien who shot and killed Mr. Krentz. This event occurred during the heated debate as to whether Arizona's new immigration law, requiring documentation of legal status in the United States, should go into effect.

Arizona Law - Illegal immigration is still in controversy on how Law Enforcement will conduct proper immigration stauts checks. Having the proper procedures in place can elimanate other legal matters concerning racing profiling.

I understand that Arizona is just trying to stop immigration but some of the laws and rules taking place are making it seem like it is allowed to racial profile. Though that may not be the case. People are thinking that if you look Mexican then the police can pull you over but I reality there most likely not going to do that. If you get pulled over for speeding and then for some reason the cop thinks you could be illegal then he can ask for paper work. I get that the law seems racial, but Arizonans should not care so much if your a citizen and have nothing to hide.

Arizona immigration laws have consistently supported racial profiling and make it difficult for legal Latinos to avoid being harassed, interrogated and detained unlawfully. State laws should be fair and adhere with constitutional freedoms afforded all citizens. If you're an American citizen, you're afforded the same rights as other citizens and should not be detained unlawfully because you "look like an immigrant". This is where Arizona crosses the line with it's immigration laws.

I understand how these immigration laws here in Arizona can make people feel, however i feel like if i have nothing to hide whats the problem. I still don't like the fact that it makes it so easy for police to racial profile because its almost insulting to get pulled over for no reason except skin color. I have seen cops pull people over just for skin color, especially in the northern part of Arizona and its wrong.

Ted Cruz's Immigration Solution - 0 views

This is Ted Cruz's plan to stop the flood of illegal immigrants crossing the Mexico/America border. He is going to build a wall that actually works and up the number of patrol agents. He is also going to hold the DHS to do their job and keep our borders secure and us safe.

I really do not believe it is immigrants who are making our country bad, what makes our country bad is the ignorance people throw out there with most believing that they "know" everything. I strongly believe that when some says immigrant, in any one's head they automatically think of Mexicans, when in fact its anyone who was not born in the U.S., Canadians, Arabians, Dominicans, etc,.
