Seniors vs. Teens: Who Are the Safer Drivers? - 0 views

  •
This is article is the comparison between senoir drivers behind the wheel and teenagers ability to drive safer. Nothing compares to a 17 year old boy flooring it to boost his adrenaline and ego, while on the other have the senior can only see a inside dash, a sky and a paved road with moving object all round them. Trying to keep up with these red break lights, with praymantis like reflexes. I think that too many teenagers are not responcible enough to drive and and their are alot of senoirs that are not physically healthly enough to drive.

Supreme Court Upholds Westboro Baptist Church's Right to Military Funeral Protests - 0 views

  •
Our first amendment is freedom of speech. Speech also includes written word. The supreme courted ruled that protests at military funerals, is freedom of speech..
  •
U.S Supreme Court ruled that protest at military funerals was okay, because of the first amendment. Chief Justice John Roberts said that protestors could not be held accountable for the damages sought by the family of a fallen Marine. Speech is powerful. People have rights, but often they take it too far.

Does having to be 21 in order to drink break freedom rights? - 0 views

  •
This site speaks about the reasons for lowering the drinking age from 21 to 18. It points out that 18-year-olds are able to fight and die for their country, but considered too young to have a beer. The website clearly believes that the law should be changed.
  •
This article covers both pros and cons to lowering the legal age to drink to 18. The write is torn between whether or not it is right because at 18 you are a legal adult. However, studies show that one is not ready for alcohol until at least 21 and that by than one should have a stronger common sense level.

Assisted Suicide: A Right or a Wrong? - 1 views

  •
The issue of whether or not patients have a right to die is explored, as well as whether or not those who help such people should be considered murderers. It gives anecdotes about family members who could not bear to see their loved ones suffer, and offers opinions on both sides of the issue.

This article touches on the debate of assisted suicide. Some people are pro, believing that once one has lost their quality of life they should be able to make the decision to end their own(with assistance, since, for whatever reason, they are unable to commit suicide on their own). Other people are against assisted suicide, believing there are situations where it would go against personal moral codes of doctors or nurses, or that the person pleading to die may change his/her mind and it will be too late.

Another good article about the morality and legality of assised suicide. Who are weto decided a person can be helped to die and be forced to live on constant pain?

Gay Marriage, Polygamy, Contracts, Personal Freedom - 0 views

  •
In this article, Lorna Jaynes expresses her thoughts on gay marriage and polygomy. She thinks that gay marrige should be allowed and that people who are also in favore of making it legal and for those who arn't should keep an open mind to other relationship views like polygomy. The reality show Sister Wives is used as a example in that they are being sued because Kody Brown is "married" to four woman. Their argument is that they are not causing and physical problems for anyone and they are not harming their children in any way so the government should stay out of their presonal lives.

This article is about gay marriage, polygamy, and contracts. If gay couples who are "married" or in a domestic partnership do not get the same benefits as a regular married couple. The author of this article is pressing for gays to have the same rights as everyone else. Moreover, the latest in polygamy in Utah is felt by many to be too much in to another person's business. It is that the state if Utah is 'persecuting citizens for living their religious values.

Bicycle Helmet Laws - 0 views

  •
Also covers one or more non-bicycle wheeled vehicles: in-line skates, roller skates, skateboarders, non-motorized scooters. There are other laws that cover them too, but we don't have the info on all of them yet. New Mexico was the first to include tricycle riders. ** Florida permitted counties to opt out.

  •
Texting while driving, too many people do it. Here, they conducted tests on people texting while driving. If test after test results show that it is dangerous and very distracting, why do so many people continue to risk their life and others?

Media Influence in Our Society - 0 views

  •
Although we have the freedom to make choices on a daily basis, I don't think people realize how much the media influences those choices. Can we really call it a "personal freedom" when so many of our choices are based on what we see on tv or the internet? This article touches on how the media, from commercials to porn, influence the decisions we make day to day. We can learn a lot from what we see, hear or read from the media but when is it too much?

Freedom of Dressing - 0 views

  •
Everyone knows that men and women dress differently. Typically, women dress more provocatively than men. However, people sometimes have to deal with naked civilians. Sometimes people go too far and that is why some stores, restaurant, etc., are strict on wearing shirts (for guys or girls), or shoes and so on.

BBC - Wonder Monkey: Tiddle's law: should we restrict cat ownership to preserve wildlife? - 2 views

  • A 2003 study in the journal Mammal Review (view it as a PDF) suggested that cats predate 5 million reptiles and amphibians, 27 million birds and 57 million mammals in the UK each year. In the US, some estimates say 100 million birds are killed by cats each year (a Forest Service report by Erickson et al in 2005) and “more than a billion small mammals”, according to a study published this year by the American Bird Conservancy (view it as a PDF).

I like how he tries to back up his statements with facts from published research, although the first link doesn't work. Bummer.

Tiddle's law. Too many cats can destroy wildlife. They can be sweet and cuddly but a nusence at the same time.

The Medical Arguments Against Legalizing Prostitution - 0 views

  •
From a medical view there are many reasons not to legalize prostitution. STD's could be tested for in advance but the testing could not keep up with the amount of partners a prostitute would have. The health risks are too dangerous to chance.
  •
Article on why prostitution should not be legalized using medical analysis.  Very short but very thorough with many cited works.

Senseless Thinking: Technology has come too far - 0 views

  •
Technology has come very far, it makes life much easier. People want life to be easier, but we loose sight of the meaning in our lives. It is when things are difficult that we find the things worth living for. This article talks about the 5 ways technology has effected us negatively. Storage is no longer an issue, we save almost everything, and pirating has greatly increased. People no longer carry cash, it is easier to loose sight of what is spent when everything is paid for on a card. Cars are now beginning to do the driving for us. movies are being developed to the point where it is like we are actually in the film and we stop connecting with the actors themselves. Google glasses are meant to replace cellphones but they are majorly unsafe. with all of this technology it is hard to see where we will be in the future.

Planned Parenthood Pros & Cons - 0 views

  •
A big part of planned parenthood is the abortion aspect. It's more than just that. About 3% of people that go through them are there for abortions. The most popular part of planned parenthood is the contraception which makes up about 33%. People should have the options that planned parenthood gives you. Someone out there has too give people the services they provide and taking away the funding isn't right.

Syrian refugees in America: separating fact from fiction in the debate - 1 views

  •
Congressional Republicans voted on Thursday to make it more difficult for refugees from Syria and Iraq to come to the US as the fallout from last Friday's Isis terrorist attacks in Paris continues. In addition, more than half of the US's governors have said they will no longer provide placement for Syrian refugees, arguing that they pose too great a risk to national security.

A Case to Defund Planned Parenthood - 0 views

  •
Many people see planned parenthood as an organization that has been taking money from the government to fund abortions among many other issues. It's thought that this shouldn't be the case because there are so many other health care services in the states that provide the same services as well as many more services too. The break down of some of the expenses show why continuing to fund planned parenthood would not be the best solution for the tax payers money.
