The Associated Press: Calif gay history referendum faces uphill battle - 0 views

  •
In California, protesters are fighting to repeal the nation's first law requiring public schools to include prominent gay people and gay rights' milestones in school lessons. Some fear that it would expose young children to "inappropriate" sexual themes, however modern 20th century history often isn't taught until junior year of high school. Proponents of the referendum explain that social studies education covers broad spectrum topics and that those who develop the curriculum would be unlikely to "include the sexual orientation of historical figures unless it is relevant."

The Case for Teaching The Bible - 0 views

  •
This article is a two sided of opinion of a very concerning topic to many Americans today. Should we teach our children the bible in school? There are schools such as in Georgia that are for the first time allowing funds to be allocated to teaching high school classes the Old and New Testaments. The students say that there are many different reasons for them to take the classes, believers or not. It seems to be a rising trend proving that more and more students enjoy these classes. I am determined to answer my own question. If our founding fathers put our country in place basing it from morals and values found within God and His word, the Bible, who are we to take it away?

There are 31 states that allow parents or guardians to give alcohol to minors, only 7 of those restrict it to a private residence. Even in countries where there is not minimum drinking age and it is customary for teens to drink during meals or religious ceremonies with their parents, there is still an observable incidence of intoxication and binge drinking.

How safe is immunization - 0 views

  •
Many claim that vaccinations cause death. However, when ministries of health perform an examination they make sure that vaccinations are not the cause. If so, then it is most likely that is it a programmatic error not vaccine manufacture error. Once a child is vaccinated, usually the only side effects are sore arms or mild fever. Most effects of vaccination can be controlled by taking paracetamol. To accurately asses some of the more serious effects would be hard since they are so far and in between. We must remember that vaccinations are safe for our children.

If planned parenthood were to be defunded, it is predicted that the government would end up spending more in the long run on public assistance. Planned parenthood provides many services for women, one of them being birth control. Defunding this organization would cost America more money in the bigger scheme of things.
