Research article that discusses practice setting characteristics that were either helpful or stressful to new grad NPs during their first year of practice. Primary care settings in Canada were sites used in this study, but the results would likely apply to acute care settings as well.

This article is about a study that sought to describe the process necessary for a successful transition of the student nurse to a professional, as well as what kind of support system enables this progression. It focused more on what was more likely to aid in a student's success. One of the study's implications was the importance of an overall support system with specific concern for appropriate training for those who provide direct clinical education.

This article discusses the role of preceptorship in preparing APRNs for their future professional roles. The article describes preceptorship as a liminal spaces that the student moves through in the process of becoming a professional.

This article discusses the transition from student to an NP's first job. Patterns identified included isolation, loss of relationships, changes in professional relationships, and loss of control. Positive aspects of the transition included gains in personal satisfaction and a professional network.
