  This is a great article that describes a scoring system for scope of practice of certified nurse midwives by state in three domains: legal status, prescriptive authority, and reimbursement. In summary, the results were encouraging in that the mean state score increase from 69 to 79 with greatest increase occurring in prescriptive authority. This tool can help document changes in practice authority and will be a great tool to have for future research.
